For the benefit of the Spurs fans today

Not surprised by some of the skyboy replies. We were better back in the day and by 'better' I mean better than most others and also better than we are now. Proud of our fans that day.

We were sporting and we stayed and clapped the other lot. We also did this v Swindon and Chalrton. Hardly anybody does this now and the game has lost something as a result.

Thousands of Sunderland stayed on at Wembley last year.

The comment re the travel back the white hart lane was a generic thing based on that is where they watch their home games and its reasonable to assume that its a place a few buses etc might go back to. I realise most Spurs fans don't live in the house next door to the ground but its also fair to assume they don't live in Penshaw or South Shields. Point being, they probably travelled way less far to get home them our lads did in 85 yet they behaved like skyboys and fucked off before the presentation.

They hate Chelsea. If we lost a cup final to the Mags, I'd be buggered if I would want to stand around watching the bastards lift the trophy.

I know. I insisted our group did at least until the City Captain lifted the trophy. Did the same at the Cambridge v Gateshead match and it hurt both times, but I thing it's the least you can do to cheer the winners. Football (and life in general) is more about losing than winning and you need to be able to deal with it.

Was talking to a Spurs mate who reckoned you needed 160 loyalty points to get a ticket for today. Not sure how they work them our but he reckoned he has 110.

I hate Chelsea as well. Arsenal are Spurs rivals and Spuds have won 2 top flight English titles (come back when you have won six and we will talk about it;)).

At the end of the day its about sportmanship and showing you can take a defeat. I would like to think our fans could stay to see Boro or the mags lift a trophy as that's what people will remember. The Spurs fans reaction today was a joke as is any of the 'elite' sides now when they lose a final. Easy to be 'great' fans when you win. Its how you lose that separates the men from the boys.
