PIetersen return?

He's certainly in the top 3 English batsmen in ODIs and T20. He proved the later in the big bash. We're awful at limited over cricket so it makes sense to try to bring him back.

You could make a case leaving him out of the test team. That would keep him away from Cook which isn't a bad thing.

What has he done in the last year to show he's still got it?

He's reluctant to play at County level and more arsed about making a big pay packet from the Big Bash and
IPL.

English cricket needs to start over, like the Aussies did after 2007.

Will be interesting to see what he does next, if he's serious about playing for England again he'll get a county and set about scoring 1,000 First Class runs before June.

I don't think he'll do that though. IPL dollars are too important to him.

2nd top scorer in the big bash, 3 50's from 8 knocks. Average nudging 42 with a strike rate of 122.

In a tournament with surfaces so dry and flat they would make the groundsman at Taunton cringe.

As i've said before, if he got his pads on for a county and scored the runs in all formats i'd be up for him being re-selected but he isn't prepared to do that so he can fuck off.

Might aswell because our middle order is pathetic.

As much as I'd like to see KP back, realistically we need to build for the next world cup starting right after this one ends. That will mean the end for Bell, Anderson and Broad and no way back for KP.

It's good that KP's profile has been kept in the media to piss off Downton but hopefully England will move on without the old guard and start blooding the new.

The problem is not the old guard mate, it's the way the management work.

Listening to his interview on the World Cup verdict it sounds asthough if he is given assurances that he will be treat fairly by the selectors then he will play in County Cricket this year.

English cricket needs to start over said:
True even if it means a few years of poorer results we should be looking forward not back. I think Cricket fans can take seeing defeats if there's some future in the team they're supporting. I'd love to see a few experimental picks in the WI tour.

Cricket is cricket - it's not like he's untried at test level and is a 20/20 specialist. He's England's best player and he's in form.

What's the point in bringing him back in. He's totally divisive in the dressing room and would be used for a maximum of 2 years.

He also failed miserably in the last two ashes series. He averaged 29 in Australia.

He failed to show anything playing domestic cricket last year.

If the door was open he'd do it. He's governed by ego and face more than money imo. If there was a chance to come back for England and try to prove everyone wrong he'd jump at it.

No - IS, and is by a mile.

I don't give a shit how he is in the dressing room. This is not a social team, it's international sport. He's our best player and we need him to play.

He averaged 29 in Australia which is poor by his standards, but you've failed to mention that he was still England's top run scorer in the series. By your logic they should all be dropped and we should just not bother fielding a side.

Is, based on what? His Big Bash appearances?

So what your saying is, team work counts for nothing? One big ego that could potentially be hugely divisive, is something that should be ignored? He chose to write his book and turn his back on the day to day county cricket.

Yes, they were all poor in that series, Pietersen being the best run scorer of a bad bunch. Bare in mind the next two were Carberry and Stokes, the latter played on three of the five tests.

How can KP being a cock in the dressing room make Anderson and Broad bowl poorly or Bell and root play poor shots?
Cricket is a team game but it's very much played on a one on one basis. KP was a nice easy scapegoat for a side who just weren't performing.
People need to stop looking for excuses and be accountable for their own performances.
KP should still be playing all formats for England.

Who have also been cast off since. Top selection policy we have.

Pietersen is so much better than the dross we are currently fielding that it is beyond a joke. If you ask every bowler in world cricket who is the England batsman that they would least like to bowl at, they will all give you the same answer regardless of the format.

It can't. It's weapons-grade bullshit.

It's interesting that the harmonious dressing room has driven them all onto fantastic performances over the past 15 months isn't it? I wonder what the next excuse will be.

Canny start by Graves to his tenure as ECB chairman, opening public address about how he plans to promote county cricket and potential changes and he falls into the KP trap. The result the media talk about KP and nobody gives a toss about the domestic game.

Sick of hearing about the ****. Yes, he had a decent knock in the KFC over 35's league, but so did Michael Carberry and Mick Lumb and I don't see people calling for them to be brought back in. If he was 30 and in peak form, you could tolerate the upheaval he causes, but he isn't - his batting has been going slowly down the shitter since 2011. I would much rather our good, young attacking batsmen (Roy, Stokes, Ali, Buttler, Taylor etc) are given their opportunity to shine, with a better coach.
