I have used and enjoyed SMB and PF for many years. I am saddened that this post may result in an end to that.

Last night my browser and my Pc were heavily invaded by roughly 36 pieces of malware. Some of the"Viagra" type, others with much pestering and unwanted privacy invasion.
I eventually managed to trace the two (I think it was only two) that completely destroyed my computer and necessitated a complete reinstall of Windows and a full rebuild. It all took about seven hours.
So I switched off cookies.
This has led to an ectremely impolite, bordering on aggressive message on here which basically says "use our cookies or go away".
Cookies used by irrrspondible people are dangerous.

The only way the site can recognise you and keep you logged on (and therefore able to post) is by storing a cookie in your browser (which is passed back each time you visit the site to verify your identity).

This will be the same for any site you visit where you logon as a user.

Cookies and malware are 2 completely different things - some of the anti-malware programs do report cookies because advertising cookies can be used to track you which can be seen as an invasion of privacy - to stop this, disable 3rd party cookies only.
