My account was hacked, they spent what was left in my wallet and then used saved credit card to buy games.

PlayStation won't refund and quote terms and conditions, "you are responsible for all purchases" even if they are illegal / fraud!

Having researched it, it seems if you ring your credit card and get the money back, they disable your account, so shafted then too, as they view it you "owe" them money.

Shit customer service and lesson learned. So take heed and remove any saved payment methods and keep wallet funds to a minimum where possible.

I am trying to kick up a fuss but doubt I will get anywhere.

That's bullshit. Surely out of goodwill they could offer you a refund and remove the paid games from your account and at the same time ban the IP who got into your account? It's not rocket science.

Don't blame you for kicking up a fuss. Keep at them like a dog with a bone and you'll get a result.

I know, even if I got it back in wallet funds so they still get their money but on games I actually want, but no.

I can understand they dont want mates lending each other log ins then claiming fraud for refund after, but some simple measures could stop this. As it is the policy means they make a profit from illegal activity.

Have contacted in to try and get some publicity but I doubt they will as they will want to tow the party line.

What's the point in hacking into someone's console and downloading games onto it?

So can you play the games the hacker has bought you?
They didn't hack my console. Got gamertag, created a 'sub account' on a different ps4 console, went on to website and logged in, buying stuff that way. They could then download the purchased items. I assume if they keep offline they can keep playing them.

Heard this before. Sony did the same thing, really shitty of them especially with there security history.

Taking the high ground since they are the top sellers, takes turns each generation, Ms were the same with 360 issues at first when winning in sales.

Yesterday, Reddit user kadjar made a post saying that his PlayStation Network account was hacked. He was charged over $600 and Sony is only willing to refund $150 of that. He is unable to authorize his account on his own PlayStation 4 for another 6 months because it has just been deactivated, as per Sony policy.

When speaking with customer service on the phone, he was told “but you only have the Last of Us and some of our free games, so it’s not a big deal”. If he disputes the charges with his bank to have the fees returned, it will end in a permanent ban for his account

Update 4:
I received some messages from (I presume) customer service reps at Sony, telling me to message a particular member of Sony's support team on their forums. I've done so, and s/he is looking into the situation.
Wow... I never anticipated this would blow up as big as it has! I appreciate all of the messages of support. If this moves Sony to reconsider their policies and invest in better account security, it'll all be worth it.

Update 3:
I've received several offers from redditors willing to gift me copies of the Last of Us and other games / credits, and I can't express enough how much I appreciate it. It's nice to remember how many good people there are out there. I make a decent living, though, and I'll be able to take care of this either way. My goal here is bring attention to a few of Sony's bad customer service policies in the hopes that they'll change them, and to encourage them to add more security measures to PSN (such as multi-factor authorization, which is supported by both MS and Steam).

If you feel the desire to give, I'd be thrilled to see donations to a worthy charity instead, such as Child's Play or Able Gamers.

Update 2:
This post was briefly taken off of /r/gaming. I have no idea why. Now it's back!

Update: I was advised to contact @AskPlaystation over Twitter (with this thread in the tweet). I did so, and they directed me to chat. I wasn't terribly optimistic that it would help, but I gave it a shot. Here's the transcript. Nothing has changed, and they won't do anything about it. If you have a minute and a Twitter account, I'd love it if any / all of you could tweet @AskPlaystation with a link to this

Wow. That chat log is insane. What a terrible company.

Yes but that will result in his account being permantly suspended by Sony meaning any games etc he owns from the digital store will be lost.
disgusting customer service really, i can see why they stopped the console activations as it was getting abused by hackers but in the end its legitimate gamers suffering.
