Has RTG been hacked?

I'm running Chrome on an unrooted Android KitKat phone.

Yesterday I started having all sorts of problems, but only when accessing RTG.

1) Periodically, say 1 time in 3, opening a link (eg open thread, reply) opens a new tab into some random advertising site. The rest of the time it does as expected.

2) The phone runs very slowly when an RTG page is foreground in Chrome. Scrolling is slow.

3) The inline text editor, eg when preparing a post, is glacially slow and misses input. Almost like there's heavy JavaScript running.

4) Rebooting the phone doesn't fix it.

5) Other sites in other tabs work fine. Including other forums. So I don't think the problem is the phone.

Anyone know owt or had similar experiences?

Turn your adblock software off and any other extensions. Oh and stop using your VPN, I can see where you are anyway.
Android Chrome doesn't support extensions and I see the ads.

VPN issues wouldn't do this, particularly for just one site in a browser with many other tabs open with different sites. Plus it's a private VPN at a locked down location, so a middle man attack is unlikely.

You can't.

Apart from that, excellent post mate, thanks.

I can see you mate, your IP is 127.0.0.1.

 I get the joke

Well that's strange after 2 days of crippling my access to RTG it just magically disappeared.

The only thing that's changed is that our VPN server switched to a backup 3g connection as broadband lines went down. Fairly sure this couldn't have made any difference.
