Australian Open Final

Looks like he's had a mare in the final set, how much is down to him and how much down to Djokovic genius?
A mixture of both. There isn't that much between the 2 at simple tennis player level, but as has been mentioned numerous times not just on this thread but over the years, he just hasn't got that ultimate mental capacity to win that Federer, Nadal & Djokovic have. It's that which separates the good from the great.

When it's all going well, Murray is phenomenal to watch but your heart goes out to him when you see that head drop for the first time cos you pretty much know already that it's game over and just a matter of time.

He could be up there with the others, he really needs someone to get deep inside his psyche and sort it out IF that's possible. I'm no expert, mebbes it's just a fact of nature/nurture and that's it for the lad.

It's almost like football teams don't prioritise bigger tournaments

They don't have control over their schedule in the same way as tennis players, for example choosing to play warm-up tournament to get into form or having a break to help recover. They do it by using a squad and rotating players so that their best players are fit for the more important matches so criticising them for needing a rest is unfair imo.

I know I sound like a fanny here but the last 45 minutes of the match were quite upsetting to watch. Djokovic was pushing at an open door.

It was not in any way befitting of the occasion or of the quality of play prior to it, which was absolutely awesome.

Annoying that muzza still has these spells

First two sets showed he was well capable of winning today

Murray is a talented bloke. .hes just unfortunate to be around as three of the best blokes in history.

Hopefully he has the beating of fed and nadal now, in which case he should sneak a few more gs's when blockheed slips up
