Running Thread 2015

I know it's not much compared to others on this thread but I ran my first ever sub-30:00 5km this week and honestly I'm over the moon. Started running in November and at first I couldn't do 2 kms, first 5km was at around 00:39. The aim now is 00:25. :D
Good effort mate.
The thing I find about runners, not just on here, is that they'll recognise each individual personal achievement based on the individual rather than against their standards. They all started somewhere.
I'll be owa the knocker if I do the half marathon in under two hours. Some on here will have finished, showered and had a couple of pints before I finish but they'll still be full of encouragement.

Well done. It took me quite a few parkruns before I broke 30 minutes. Keep it up. I often find once I reach a target time I'll keep improving for 2 or 3 weeks before it levels off for a while.

Park run yesterday - went round steady with a couple of friends and made one new running buddy that I jogged back with afterwards. Great for the social side as well as the fitness.

16 miles today and hurt my knee and blistered my feet. Probably means another couple of days off.

Anyone good advice on managing blisters you've got while continuing on long runs? Next weekend should be 20 miles...

I use those compeed plasters. They're quite expensive but excellent at hiding blisters. Used them in half marathon races whilst pushing myself. Never tried 20mile in them though :)

Well, managed 13.5m on Friday, struggle, few walks as chest bit wheezy, then 8 miles today, slightly better but still not 100%. Wind was mental this mornin like!! 12 weeks left till London, n I reckon after me cold and chest am 4 weeks behind target, gotta catch up!!

First run of the year this morning due to a dodgy knee. Feel great and hopefully there won't be any pain later on.

i set my goal as 100 miles in January and I hit that spot on after being told I has exercise educed asthma I have been taking it easy so im happy with hitting my target, 120 mile is the aim for February, did 5 mile yesterday afternoon and 10k this dinner time, nice easy slow 4 mile home after work to make it 10mile for the day, im desperate to get ack to doing the 10miles a day in 1 run but just don't have the time at the moment so hope fully I will hit febs target and as the weather gets better and the asthma clears up I will start looking at my speed again.

Be careful. Being slightly under prepared is better than getting an injury through over training then setting yourself back even further.

Whey, results base is having a mare this morning....

Logged on at 6am to get Blaydon place, and was 800th in the queue - sat for 25 minutes only for the payment system to fail. Back at 567th in the queue :(

I did similar mate at half6, but you maybe in already as it was just the payment phase that crashed , it says to check your orders ? But do you rely on that or just start from scratch again ? And what happens if you end up in twice? Right farce like . Will try again when in work, although not massively bothered

EDIT... Log onto your Resultsnet account - go to "my orders" and your entry should be there just waiting for you to pay, can pay straightaway - sorted

Yep, I ended up with two entries in there - I've paid up for one of them now, so I'm in.

Some horror stories on their Facebook page like, some fella has been stung for £450  Multiple payments taken for a load of people apparently..

Someone is having an awful Tuesday at work

Heard a few people had problems. I got mine yesterday morning. Swore last year I wouldn't go this Geordie wank fest again but. . you do get a canny sarnie at the end

I think I've asked this before but has anyone done the Keswick Park Run?
In Braithwaite at the weekend so could be tempted to do it. Having my first drink in six weeks on Friday so I might rule myself out.

starts at the back of the swimming pool in the park and runs along the old railway line towards threkeld. First mile or so is mainly uphill (not steep) then you turn around next to caravan park and run back the way you just came. normally about 70-80 do it from memory.
