What do people think of Durham's chances in 2015?

Bowling wise we could potentially be very strong in 4 day cricket if we can regularly call upon Onions, Wood, Stokes, Rushworth & Hastings

If we kept Stokes for most of the season and managed to develop/attract another 1000 runs a season batsman outside of Collingwood, Stoneman, Stokes and Borthwick (being the only 4 on the books who could do this at present relating to their ability) we could push hard for the league title

I still think Notts and Yorkshire will be the teams to beat but it we can stay clear of injuries we have a chance

The list of bowlers is encouraging you can add Arshad, Coughlin, Chase, Harrison although I don't know if Chase will actually be around or not, which would be a shame because he looked quite good.

If we're going to challenge then more batsmen have to show the ability to score big lie in the batting I reckon the two key positions will be Jennings at opener who looked at little weak last year. The other one is Richardson and I reckon Richardson has the talent to do that more consistently.

But yep, on last season's evidence improvement in the opener position will be key.

Also McCleod in the middle order will be one to watch to see if he can kick on and Muchall for all the criticism directed at him had a relatively good average compared to others and he's shown he can get those big scores.

Of others, maybe Pringle could do something as spinner?

On the whole though I reckon we're looking at mid-table again.

Richardson was just shy of 1000 runs last season mind and I think Jennings will have a better season as he was poor.

I have no real idea how we'll do. This winter has been very low profile and i'm probably as poorly clued up about DCCC this winter as at any point during the last 5 or 6 years.

Glad this thread has been started.

I think a lot depends on Stokes, as he transforms the team from a decent one to a very good one.

Runs will be the big issue, but I just can't see us signing anyone else now, when everyone is fit and available, we have a lot of options.

Interested to hear everybody's first XI?I was thinking about it before, and it is difficult to fit everyone in when you write it down, for example......

Stoneman
Jennings
Borthwick
Richardson
Stokes
Collingwood

Macleod
Mustard
Wood
Hastings
Onions
Rushworth

There is 12 there, who would you drop? Stokes when he is not available would drop out, would you play him and Wood? Would Mcleod miss out? Or what you drop Mustard and let Richardson (who could consistently score over 1000 runs) keep. The ones in bold have to play when fit IMO

I have said a few times that I think Mustard could open, especially at the riverside, when runs on the board is always handy, Jennings needs to start well.

Plus we have Muchall and a hell of a lot of good young bowlers, many who were vital to us winning the league the year before last.

Injuries may dictate, but interested to here peoples first XI???

Macleod will come in for stokes. If Ben is selected for England and Muchall will be at 7.

Coughlin,Arshad,Harrison battling for Hastings place if he plays IPL for a period.

Can see Wood being a big player for us next season, as he seems to have got over some of his injury troubles and doing well for the Lions.

That doesn't quite fit, its either Macleod or Muchall, as I listed 12 players before.

Aye misread it, muchall comes in if stokes plays for England for me.

I'd like to see Macleod personally, he has got something. I don't think Mustard is nailed on mind, could see Richardson with the gloves, although I wouldn't like to see it.

Top 4 in the Championship
At least a semi-final in the Cup

That's a good attempt. You look at that and the question marks are around Jennings and Macleod. If we are to do well this coming year the opening partnership has to be stronger, which means more from Jennings.

Stokes will be missing for some of the time I'm sure and I'd have Muchall in preference to Macleod.

What about any youngsters? There's Pringle and there's a batter that has been talked about altho I can't recall his name. Anyways this would be my choice

Stoneman
Jennings
Borthwick
Richardson
Stokes (Macleod/unknown young batter for when Stokes is away)
Collingwood

Muchall
Mustard
Wood
Hastings
Onions
Rushworth

Pringle on spin duty for a turning pitch.

You have still got 12 in there (I think I confused people with my original lineup which was a squad of 12)

So basically you would have Stokes, then Muchall in to replace him when he is away, and no Macleod?

Pringle will be involved, as he was at the end, he looks more of a Batsmen who bowls a bit of spin to me at the minute, could be wrong.

Buckley no where near? Couple of five wickets in his appearance

Yes I would.

I'd imagine Macleod would be involved firstly in 1-dayers like last season and then maybe in the CC if he's going well, but I'd put Muchall ahead of him unless form shows differently as things go along.

*I wish I could recall the name of the young batter

Graham Clark is probably the next young batter in line. Jack Burnham is very highly rated but not near 1st team as yet.MacLeod has had a disastrous winter which is worrying. I fancy Ryan Pringle to be the one to make the breakthrough.

Was it Graham Clark? He got into a squad late on in the season.

Oh for Scotland?

Needs to deliver, hope he isn't on too much cash, as we haven't got a lot of it

When all fit/available:

Stoneman
Mustard (wk)
Borthwick
Collingwood
Stokes
Richardson
MacLeod
Wood
Onions
Rushworth
Buckley

IMO.
