Pier to pier race

Wanting to do the shields to roker, pier to pier run this year, never done it before.

Can't seem to find any details online anywhere? Any one know any details about this year? And anyone done it, what's it like?

starts off on shields beach , then on grass/trail for bulk of the run, ends up along seaburn promenade and roker beach - depending on weather its quite a tough run, the start is like the opening scenes on Saving Private Ryan.... I've only don't it the once and went off slightly the wrong way once came off shields beach following some bulls knacker who i thought was clued off while I could see all the club runners going a different route, so wasn't the best but still did canny time in the end, may try it again this year.

mods - can probably merge this in with the running thread ?
 
Crackin run, only done it once as I always seem to be away on a lads jolly at that time. This and the Durham Coast half mara my favourites.

I 'cheated', but not intentionally. I just followed a group. I really enjoyed it, its different and as local as you can get. Decent goodie bag too.
 
It used to be my Sat morning route of choice after a lad at work signed me up for the race a good few year back.

Might sign up for it if I get back into some semblence of shape like.
 
I'm guessing the cheating was those that went on the pavement from Shields up to the Grotto car park ??
I ran near to the road but stopped on the grass,
honest..,

I'm already a lovely shape mate. Its just not a shape adapted for running.
Why are you being so nasty after i beeped my horn and shouted DAN, DANIEL, DAN, at you the other day when you were out with your running friends?

The strollers have a new beginners group starting next week, go for it mate, no time like the present
 
Missed this last year. Def on this years schedule. . I'd have followed the cheaters too if I had that decision to make :D
 
The wife is in strollers mate (no) and she doesn't brink they are open yet , will post on here when they are
