How would you approach the chelsea game?

If, and its a huge if, we can frustrate them for long enough, I could see Alvarez coming off the bench for the last 10/15 minutes to try and conjure up an unlikely winner.
!

That's got to be Poyet's plan surely, maybe not specifically Alvarez but the cliched 'keep it tight, try and snatch a winner in the second half'. If it works you're a genius, if your strikers miss chances, like against Leicester, it looks like a dull, unimaginative tactic.

I'm expecting Coates vice Brown. 3 hard games this week so perhaps rest brown. If Jones fit, move Santi into centre. Footy Manager man, doddle.

Pantilimon
Vergini O'Shea Brown Rev
Cattermole
Larsson Rodwell Bridcutt
Johnson
Fletcher

Quite a difference in thoughts there mind

Head and heart Nathan old boy. If we always got the result I hoped for we'd be current Champions League holders for the umpteenth season in a row. Sadly the reality is a little different

If we had someone good enough at it I'd try and radge Costa, he's got a sending off in him that lad

Exactly. The bloke is a proper radge packet - if someone could annoy him enough, hopefully he'll take a swing at them and get sent off.

Otherwise, park the bus and hope for the best. If we are lucky, our big team form from last season will return.

Hazards the biggest threat IMO. You like that gif Hazard is a Hazard/threat :D :D

Na man all jokes aside I'd go with.......

Pantilimon
Vergini
Brown
Oshea
Rev

Johnson
Larsson
Cattermole
RODWELL
Wickham

Fletcher

I just don't rate Buckley and we could do with a 5 man midfield vs Chelsea tbf.

Score 0-2 Chelsea
Make this change and I'm with ya, crazy as it sounds, I reckon Johnson is the best defensively out of our usual options on the wing. He's the best at covering for Vergini's lack of pace. It will however mean he's effectively out of the game offensively, but maybe that is unavoidable.
Chucking in less conservative players (didn't want to use the term 'impact') towards the end might help us nick a goal. Gomez, Alvarez, Buckley & even Jozy could perform that kind of role; in particular, bringing on gomez & Buckley as a double substitution at the end of a game changes how we pass & run, which could disrupt a defence.

Very optimistic but not completely out of the realms of possibility

Id play cattermole and bridcutt

4-2-3-1 make sense.

http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/829661/Preview does not seem right.

Buckley or Johnson? Playing Buckley would slightly discourage Chelsea from pushing forward from left-back because of his speed on the break.

I expect Poyet will confound everyone by paying neither of them as both are a bit naff at defending. Jozy Altidore vs Cesar Azpilicueta ?

GP might want to tempt Azpilicueta forward and exploit the space behind him. Buckley at 67 minutes?

Play hard-working players... Seb has to play. I'd drop Gomez. Maybe Bridcutt in. Not sure about Wickham tracking back on the left, but I'm not convinced by Buckley either. Wickham did well the last day too, he is an outlet to hold up the ball.

They aren't unbeatable, we broke Mourinho's home record last year, Jozy scored his first league goal for us against them.

In 3 games against them last season, we won 2, scored 7. They're better now but we can still fuck them up.

Against these there really is no choice, you just have to try and stay in the game for the first hour. It's a very difficult task

I'd play a 4-4-2 with Fletcher and Wickham upfront otherwise the two CB's will be able to cover and the FB's will have licence to overlap.

Midfield Catts, Bridcutt, Larsson RW, Johnson LW.

Vergini against Hazard would be a catastrophe imo
But we are short there, maybe put Wes there to launch him the first time he touches the ball.

Fortunately, there are times during the season when individuals and/or the team completely surprise us. Vergini will do it, maybe tomorrow, maybe not.
