Some burke reversed into us in Denenhams car park at the weekend like. Not pulling out of a space. Just stopped dead and started reversing without looking in his mirror. No damage luckily.

Get in touch with the guy running the van fleet and say it would suit both of us not to go through insurance,i have witnesses etc shall we sort between us,id say he will,i run a fleet and i would, just say i'll get a few quotes and dont go back with quotes for thousands

Are some of your drivers knackers as well marra?

Bastard clipped me today in hospital car parkband done one even though he heard it and I immediately hit the horn.

Got his number plate and reported it to the police.
Had a drunk driver hit a parked car, then me then he drove off. Even with the registration it took just over a year to recover the money from him.

The witness is key in this case. But witnesses can and do go to ground, either they are not bothered to give a statement or don't care or both, it happens. At that point it'll be settled 50/50.

Make sure you get a written statement from the witness asap.

Dad had a similar incident a few months back. Not a roundabout but a slip road onto motorway, lorry to the right of my dad who cut across to get onto slip road, scraped along side of the car, claiming he was in his blind spot so didnt see. Wasnt from round here so didnt know the roads  anyway swapped details etc, dad reported it, paid excess and got damage sorted out. Chasing insurance up as hadnt heard anything, the lorry driver still hadnt reported it, after 3 months! Anyway, letter came Monday to say lorry driver has now eventually reported it, but claims my dad was speeding trying to undertake this fella.

Why would my dad chase it up if he was in the wrong? Why wouldnt he report it if he had nothing to hide? And why admit he didnt know the roads? Moron. Dad's fuming with it

Not as bad as him,law of averages out driving all day multi drop deliveries asap and all that. They'll have a canny excess and each hit will damage their premiums more than yours

In the middle lane going straight ahead on the roundabout, van driver comes from the left lane, into my lane. Cuts me up and clips the side of my car. He didn't indicate. He was going to quickly and told me this was the 4th accident he had recently had in this van. The van is owned by a company based in Gateshead.

It's the left passenger side panel that is dented and scratched. Not a huge problem, but it needs sorting

The important bits- The driver tried to blame me, which was ridiculous. Thankfully I have a witness that is willing to testify on my behalf, he was directly behind me and agrees that the van driver is to blame.

Looking online, a new panel would be £100-150 pounds plus work for somebody to replace it and spray paint, put it in correctly and all that.

Should I go through my insurance company and risk my NCB? The bloke will probably deny it, but with a witness on my side i'm hoping we would win.

Could I perhaps ask his works company for money up front, to go towards the new panel being installed and all that?

I realise that getting somebody to admit it was their fault and cough up, is very difficult i'm basically looking for some advice on the situation.

I'm a bit chewed with the whole matter, so i'd appreciate nee daft comments or suggestions. Thanks :)
first of all you shouldnt be asking on an internet forum as I know for a fact insurers check that sort of thing. unless he gives you a wad of cash to fix it then report it and his insurers should pay

But the insurers will then see it wasn't his fault coz the SMB have discussed it.

Yep unless its protected of course. He sounds like a twat so would you trust him to give you the money, afterall once you agree to go behind the insurers back you can't go back

THIS...you would be in breach of your insurance straight away as you would have "witheld information which may give rise to a claim". This is the wording the insurance companies use, so even if you are fixing it yourself, you are supposed to let the insurance company know.

This won't affect your No Claims Bonus as you won't have made a claim, however when they calculate your next premium it will affect your risk rating and calculation. You would also be lying if you are asked the question "had any accidents in the last x years?" and answered "No".

They were sly when they changed the wording on that question, as it always used to be "any claims in the last x years?".

You could just say no to an accident as it was done on purpose ;)

Its expensive if you do it through a manufacturer approved body shop, had someone reverse into my 07 skoda fabia and a new bumper + prep, paint and blending panels ran him the best part of a grand

He agreed to be invoiced after i gave him a couple of quotes, was visiting someone in a gated estate so he had nowhere to hide like
