As posted in another thread, taking my nephew to derby game at landfill. Seen load of videos of walk through town beforehand, how intimidating is it? Don't want the kid being scared out of his mind, or would you advise avoiding it.

Could I get train from Durham and hook up with SAFC convoy at Central Station, or would we need to travel through from Sunderland.

Cannot wait to see the lads face when he gets ticket as early Xmas present :D

Not really the best atmosphere for a 9 year old imo. Then again, start them young I suppose. My Dad took me to see us at Ayresome Park and we were in amongst the Boro lot. Cheers Dad.

You could get one of the buses. That would be a lot safer for the little fella.

I'd not take my son at that age, but if you must get on the free supporters buses leaving from the SOL.
Even then coming out of the ground can be a bit dicey depending on how close the police let them get to the barriers.
I'd definitely not take him on the train though.

Don't take a 9 year old to that mate

Simple fact is you can't guarantee his safety due to the objects they throw at us on route etc

I'm bit dubious like. Will be fine in the ground, just actually getting there and back I am concerned with. I have been before in box and just parked at ground. What is set up like for just walking up there on our own, avoiding convoy. Am I likely to get twatted when I head to SAFC end or is it well policed.

I have a 9 year old son and I wouldn't take him to this game like just due to the risk factor. Maybe the bus would be the safest option for what it's worth

They the buses from SOL?

Coming out is fine. The mags are always well clear in advance of letting us out.

Of course you're not providing you're not wearing colours.

Nine is quite young for an away derby, IMHO. Best to take him on the free buses from the SoL-- ensure he's kept away from the aggro.

Not always. A few years back I was with my mam and had to push her out of the way of bother as we were coming out.

Strange I've got the bus back twice and never really seen a mag.

The metro you're kept well away as well. You see a few but they are kept back in the bars.

I've no idea what it's like trying to get in without the convoy. Thing is, the whole experience does get the adrenalin pumping and makes lager filled blokes a bit nervous and wary, there's a reason why no kids, women or disabled fans attend this one.
