Player Ratings Vs Leicester

Wickham had his best game of the season today , held it up well , strong running with the ball ,
4. Just shows you are clueless am afraid.

He ran a few times at the defense and the only positive outcome I can remember was that free kick he won. Holding it up is fine, but that's not the role you play wingers for. 4 maybe harsh but it is meant to emphasise that he can't play there.

I think everyone would get a 5.5 to 6.5 from me. There was no-one much better or worse than average today for us.

If anyone, O'Shea and Reveillere probably pushing 7s and Brown a 5

He played okay. He held the ball up and laid it off. Which is fine for a striker, but he was playing on the wing, that is no use to us in that position. Not his fault of course. But it leaves us very imbalanced.

Can you offer an actual argument to counter that? Just post a smiley if you like, might find it easier instead of thinking of words.
He played ok?
Ok warrants a 4. A few of them must have been very good?

the fact we ended up with only a draw from a game we could have won would lower them all a point or two for me.
giving them 8's for barely surviving means we would have to award 11 and 12 if we won...unless you add a team performance mark in there as well as in 'yeh they played decent considering the team in general were not good enough to grab a goal'
i would expect 8 or over to be along the lines of a match winning performance.

Presumably people are giving Wickham a 4 because of the number of times he gave the ball away in dangerous situations, for example, in the first half when he played a 30 yard pass to put their striker through on goal. Can't do that at this level, particularly when you've only scored one goal a third of the way through the season while playing every game (or almost every game). Take his 2 or 3 gaffs away and he had a great game.

Completely forgettable game today, so get your ratings in while you still remember what went on.

Pants - 7 - Made a good save, came for a few crosses successfully
Vergini - 6 - Solid without being spectacular
O'Shea - 8 - He's become very reliable of late, kept Leicester's, often insipid, attack quiet.
Brown - 5 - Always has a mistake in him
Reveillere - 6 - Solid without being spectacular
Larsson - 7 - Decent shift, almost certain goal blocked
Catts - 6 - Another yellow, will be sure to get to 1- and miss two more games before January
Gomez - Forgettable
Johnson - 6 - Obviously a quality player but wasn't at his best
Fletcher 7 - Thought he had a good game, but has to take chances like he had in the first half
Wickham - 4 - Held the ball up okay but when compared to Fletcher just isn't capable of playing regularly at this level. Rather Buckley instead.

I think we'll be safe this season, but it's all been a little dull so far this season.
FFS! Brown and Gomez were shite. Everyone else was okay (Fletcher and O'Shea the best) and we were the better side away from home. 4 for Wickham? FFS!

Pantimilion 7
Vergini 6
O'Shea 7
Brown 3
Revelliere 7
Larsson 6
Cattermole 6
Gomez 4
Johnson 6
Fletcher 7
Wickham 6

We were decent today, and probably should have won.

For me:

Pantilimon- 7 (Probably our best player, made some decent saves, couple of good claims, swept up nicely. Probably not enough to get an 8)
Vergini- 6 (Okay, but not his best. His attacking limitations down the flank were shown again)
Reveillere- 7 (Very close to MotM, made a few excellent interventions. Would like to see him on the right again when possible)
O'Shea- 7 (Very very solid, having an excellent season really)
Brown- 4 (The opposite, having an awful season. Made a few good clearances, but I counted 3 big errors. Not good enough)
Catts- 7 (Silly foul early on, picked up a yellow, but had a very good 2nd half)
Seb- 6 (Been in great form, was decent today, but not as good- came close to getting a red, some good deliveries)
Gomez- 6 (Involved in a great move in the first half, didn't do enough throughout)
Johnson- 7 (A real threat, whenever he was on the ball, he looked good. Good shot well saved by Schmeichel)
Wickham- 7 (Couple of mistakes but overall was pretty good. Held the ball up well, won frees, good hard running)
Fletcher- 7 (Good game, but had a couple of chances to score which he didn't take)

Bridcutt- 6
Buckley- 6

Neither had much time to make an impact and didn't do a whole lot.

He put a good shift in for me and worked tirelessly - 4 indeed!!

I thought he knuckled down well playing in a position he is clearly not suited for.
Caused a few problems when he came inside to interchange with SF; maybe there's something to be built on there?

Aye he made strong runs then lost it.
It's all about decisions, Wickham makes a lot of bad ones, it's ok receiving the ball holding it up but then what, he never seems like he knows when to pass or at times even capable of doing so, his number one tactic appears to be to get the ball and attempt to bulldoze his way into a goal scoring position, ultimately and far too often surrendering possession.

We were playing one of the poorest teams in the league and had 60% posession but our quality players didn't show up and make the difference.

Wickham looked good against poor oppposition.
