The very fact he's attempting serious resistance training is the reason he can hit the ball so far. Just like Tiger.

Not everybody is blessed with fat strength like John Daley.

Not many sports, from marathon runners to rugby players, can't benefit from serious resistance training. I'm happy to see now that there's a shift back towards it

Distance running in particular it used to be thought of as a big no-no but there's definitely a swing back towards it now. Speaking from personal experience my 5k times have plummeted since I started doing the stronglifts 5x5 routines.

Probably why Ronaldo became mint and Rooney didn't. Ronaldo hammers the squat rack and you can tell by his explosive running, jumping and changes of direction.

I'm sure the bloke (can't remember his name) made a point of comparing the two and how their mentalities were just worlds apart. Ronaldo willing to do whatever the fitness coaches suggested and Rooney less so

Sure I read that ronaldo changed the way the whole utd squad looked at strength training, before his arrival they were dead against any heavy resistance training. But saw how much it improved his game, so changed their whole training concept. Strange it took do long for a multi million pound sports club at the very top to catch on to something like that.

Also remember an interview with Tim Cahill who said he was the only player at Everton who would squat and it's why his leap was so good and could out jump taller players. Did the coaches not clock on or something?

I always used to think he was a very good header of the ball...

I'd find it funny if it wasn't so sad how many people, particularly PTs & even physios believe this.

Well, it can if you do it wrong.

Tbh I'd rather someone give it a miss if they didn't know how to perform one properly.
