Still suffering from ITBS... different shoes make no difference, resting does nowt, stretching does nowt. barely done anything for about 3 months now, itb strap does nowt, strengthening did nowt..

Can't run any longer than 20 minutes and still expect to walk afterwards.

Supposed to be starting physio soon so hopefully they'll sort me out - but i doubt it.

Just did the 10k section (although my garmin states in 6.5) of the Penshaw trail run that @Bagpuss arranged earlier this year, very muddy and once I got to the steps from hell at the A19 I regretted last night's dinner of steak, potatoes gratin, chocolate cake and half a bottle of red.

Tried a sports massage/foam roller?

Tried a sports massage/foam roller?

Foam roller yes, doesn't seem to help - though to be honest I give up on it too easily.

Running on a treadmill doesn't seem to aggravate it as much as outdoors does. I've got a new knee support to try out - hoping that will help. Otherwise I might just end up going all out for as long as I can manage, rather than running solid for more than 20 minutes

ITB - keep rolling both legs mate (not just the injured one) just 5-10mins every night , think of the 3 adidas stripes running down side of your leg , try roll all 3 stripes, don't roll over the knee or hip mind, just area Inbetween , you can't actually stretch the ITB though , just roller or massage . Good luck and give it couple of weeks to see if works

Edit.... Restless natives - when I saw you sat morn I'd just got up with worst hangover known to mankind , so couldnt be arsed t stop n chat, sorry!

It's back!!!!! The Pieces of 8 @ Penshaw monument trail race is now open for entries for 2015. Described as "The most brutal 10k I have ever done" by the 2014 mens race winner we have added a marathon to the existing half and 10k races for those of you who simply do not know when you have had enough! After numerous requests we have shifted the date to June so as not to clash with the GNR, we reckon our new June date should give your battered legs just about enough recovery time!!!!

NB: Si entries is temporarily showing two half marathons, one at £32, one at £22, the £32 one is the marathon option

Will do. I hate rolling!

Managed 2.5 k without any pain afterwards with the new knee support, but it was starting to burn a bit while running.

last 3 weeks have been a mare, cracked a bone in my elbow(im recovering ok) and had a cold that has knocked me off my feet, done 2 mile Monday and 4 mile last night, off for 7 mile tonight so I can slowly put back together the fitness I had before I done my elbow

I knew there has to be some excuse for your outfit.;)

Sunderland Half and 10k entries open. Looks like the same route as last year for the half.

Signed up for the half marathon. It'll force me to get off my arse.
Hopefully I'll run it probably this time instead of doing the first two miles like I was Mo Farah and the next 11 like I was Mo from Eastenders.

Stuffing them with newspaper might help.
Two more extreme options are buying a second pair and rotating or buying a cheap dehumidifier and stick them next to that.

Somebody else said stuff them with paper, I thought they were just taking the piss .
Did 3 loops of the Farringdon XC route this morning , think it's just over 1.7mile each loop, was like bambi on ice coming down any banks, muddy n horrible, grass pretty long now also, found it very tough (don't have spikes).
Passed Aly Dixon out running On way up to Farringdon and saw her still running as I was going home and wouldn't be suprised if she even did the pk run In-between.
Oh aye , me trainers are friggin soaked !!
