Flying to games down south

What happens nowadays with the players when we play the London Clubs or Southampton.

Still a coach job or do they fly?

Any fans fly or is it no quicker with getting through the airports?

Not worth the hassle.
40-50 mins getting to Newcastle airport, where you'd have to arrive an hour before you flight. 45mins - 1 hour flight. 20 mins to get off the plane and out the airport. 60 mins on the tube from Heathrow to C.London. Just not worth it, unless a flight ticket was peanuts, but even then the tube and metro prices would add up

Shouldnt they have private helicopters each leaving from AOL. Each serving sparkling water and caviar on the way down. What's the point in having this billionaire owner again?

Quite often they 'share' a plane with a London club.

For example, last weekend Arsenal fly up here, then Newcastle 'return' on the flight to London...

Check in on line and rock up ten minutes before it departs now. I'd only get to the airport an hour before (probably not even that) for an international flight from a big airport like heathrow / gatwick where security can have big queues.
I've flown up a bit from southampton, and internal flights arriving at newcastle / southampton with hand luggage you walk straight off the plane and out of the airport in less than 5 minutes.
Heathrow will be a bit different I presume, the size of it like. Especially when you can get a train down in less than 3 hrs.

I noticed Chelsea flew on Saturday PM to Manchester for their Super Sunday game. Seemed a bit OTT but would indicate flying is the way of the premier league now for even 2.5 hour train journies..

We usually fly if we're playing Swansea, Cardiff etc. Flown to Southampton a couple of times as well. One time for Swansea it was cheaper to fly to Bristol, get the train across, overnight in Bristol then fly back than it was to do the train in one day.

Probably fly down the day before and stay over night. Coach will drive them home afterwards.
