Cycling - I had nothing in the legs

Strange one this. On the club run Sunday, prepared the same way, carbs previous day, no booze, gels, carb drink etc. For some reason I could barely turn the pedals and the whole ride was a struggle. I'm feeling fine, no colds etc do why would I just randomly be on empty. Strange.

Did you do any hard training sessions the day before? How long was the club ride and was there much hill climbing? Maybe you just had an off day

Did a 25 mile recovery ride sat morning with no hills. No climbs Sunday either but stopped at 45 miles. Like you said, prob just an off day.

Maybe it was just that old enemy the bastard wind!!! Done a club ride up to Blyth last Sunday and was a tasty head wind coming back

You get days like this. You need a good sleep night before and correct breakfast about an hour before ride; that's what does it for me. I do find at my age (45) if I have a decent club run planned, say 50+ miles, I don't ride at all the day before. Like other poster says, wind is really deceptive at the moment, and it can make you feel useless very easily.
