I was wondering about that. I am most likely to die from bowel cancer so I think I will start getting screened soon. If you don't catch it early you're fucked.
I'm so glad you beat it :)
Yes it is one of the most easily curable cancers if caught early surgery is almost 100% effectime. The reason it is a big killer is that you can be like me and walk around with a big fuck off tumor for years till it is too late. I assume you know the rule of 10 years before your

All I had Max was the passing of some blood (just thought I was wiping my arse too hard!!!)

But watch out for tiredness/loss of weight/appetite as well (although I was tired I thought I was just an awld gadgee)

Any sign of any blood get it checked - it could be nothing but it could certainly save your life
This. Also if like me the doc tells you it is piles or something insist on a screening test as this masked my tumor about 4 years ago which would have saved me a shit load of chemotherapy.

Cheers King, I have no symptoms but it's good to get some first hand advice to back up what you see/hear in the media - and good to hear that you are all but sorted.

More great advice to take note of.

RIP lovely lady, I could tell from looking at her that she was very ill and would struggle to make it to Christmas sadly (I've seen it up close, I know how my brother looked in the weeks preceding his death).
I've also recently found out I have the MLH1 gene that increases my chances of getting several types of Cancer and have made an appointment to see the docs to discuss a few aches and pains that have been lingering around for a while).........screening and vigilance is key for me now, I don't want to die early / young like my mam and bro :cry:
Cancer is the devil, I pray for a cure and hope they look into the use of Cannabis Oil for killing tumors (it attacks the cancerous cells / tumor only, where as Chemo attacks everything in the vicinity).
To all those affected - KEEP FIGHTING THE FUCKER, KICK ITS ARSE !

Ten years before what?

Sorry phone locked up. You shout start screening ten years before the age of any relative that was diagnosed. So if an uncle was dI agnostic at 48 you should enter a screening program at 38 etc

Good point - my kids have been told that as well

FG did you have operation or everything else - I had radiotherapy, operation, chemo then reversal op (I had a temporary ileostomy)

I had a colonostomy and then 8 rounds of a two phase chemo

Why did they do radio for you first?

@King Kareoke

I was due for the operation and then after all the pre-op etc the oncologists argued that a short course radio therapy treatment may be beneficial. My tumor was fairly low down so it appeared that it was going to be hard to get a join. I assume that by shrinking the tumor over a 5 day intensive period has resulted in them being able to put Humpty back together again!!!

Where did you have your operation - I had both of mine at the QE, 8 rounds of chemo at the QE but radiotherapy at the Freeman

@the flying graysons

I had my here in NZ. Surgeon was a leeds fan I managed to refrain from pointing out they are all cu..nts until afterwards though
