'Drugs sabotage' thread.

Hi Admins/Mods

I was just wondering if it would be a possible to get an explanation why my 'Drugs sabotage' thread was deleted. Did I break a rule?

Thank you.

So should I assumed there is no going to be an explanation? I would like to know. It makes it difficult to contribute if you have no idea what you said that was unacceptable.

Not seen it, but chances are if it was deleted you broke a rule or it was considered inappropriate

The post was pretty reserved. It was just suggesting whether it might be a possibility that the team had been sabotaged with drugs in a similar way that Cremonese were a few years ago. I can see why people might strongly disagree with it, but I can not see why it was deleted. It certainly is puzzling when you see some of the things that get through without moderation in the Pure Football forum.

I would like to know the reason why the post was deleted, because I am likely to bring up something similar in other threads and I would not want to get banned for it.

Is whoever deleted it about, and are they going to explain why it was deleted, please?

So just to follow up on this, there is quite a clear statement in this forum about deleted posts resulting in possible banning:

"If you are banned, it is often the result of cumulative breaches of the rules.

The banning is based on a points system, and when you are warned or have a post deleted you will acquire "warning points". The number of points being related to the severity of the transgression . These points typically remain on your account for a period of 1 month. Any further warnings/deletions will add to those warning points and if pass the threshold, your account will be banned."

I have no idea why my post was deleted. I have no idea what my "warning points" score is, and I have no idea how to stop it happening in the future. So will whoever moderated away the post pleas explain why it happened? Did it break a rule or did someone just take personal offense to the content? Or was it something else?

I have checked your account and you have never received any warning points. If you do, you would normally get a message advising you of this so no worries on that part.

From what you have described, there is a good chance that your post was okay, but the thread then went off the rails with libellous allegations. Sometimes it is necessary to delete the whole thread in these instances either because it will immediately get derailed again, or it is simply to difficult/timetaking to weed out the good posts from the libellous ones and remove the quotes.

Thank you for your considered response.

I had looked at the post once since I had put it up and there were a lot of abusive two word posts in response, but I was disappointed to see the entire thread go shorty afterwards. I had suspected that it had effectively got hijacked. I think it would be fair to say there are some pretty childish bullies/mobs who try and go around en masse to dictate and police the content of this forum by brute force spamming or abuse. It would be unfortunate if they were effectively given the right to determine content this way, or if the standards were relaxed for them at the detriment of the forum content. While my post got deleted, there were plenty in the 'Pure Football' board that were purile or beyond the knuckle that were not moderated out.

I know moderation of forums is a tricky business, I've run a very busy forum years ago, and moderating it was a nightmare. I know you guys have a legal commitment to avoid libelous claims. I would just hope that any comments that purile or abuse comments that resulted in the thread being deleted would result in commenter being banned for some time.
