Premier League bubble about to burst?

Say Ofcom made Sky knock £20 off their subscription costs, wouldn't that greatly effect profit margins and thus the cost of future TV deals would drop in value and therefore severe cost cuttings for Premier League football clubs?

Without the PL tie in, Sky TV would be minnows in England. £70 pm to get HD sports (hardly anybody would pay for the rest of the sh1t if they could get only the sports channels) is a massive rip off. There is a long way to go before they would be struggling.

Not when theres even more competition for the next deal thanks to BT and the foreign rights market still has a lot of mileage in it in terms of increased revenue...........

Virgin are just shit stirring as they cant compete for the games and are getting charged more for the stuff they purchase for their packages from the likes of Sky.......

The Premier League should run its own TV channel really
Much easier to sell the rights for silly money to firms that already have the massive infrastructure and customer base in place.........

that sounds like a lot of hassle in a market that they aren't really geared up for. seems a bit silly when they get such huge sums for not really doing anything that they wouldnt do anyway. (changing match days aside.0\

true but the infrastructure is just "plumbing" : there are hundreds of TV channels successfully broadcasting utter shite 24 hours a day. The technical stuff is easy, content is king !

It's weird how the Premier league is so popular overseas.

I couldn't give a fuck about Spanish / Italian / French footy.

because it's a global league played in England.

I think the Championship should rebrand itself as the English Championship and that's the level where we should limit foreigners

Yes but why when they can just sell the rights and say thanks for the fish would they ever get involved with then having to negociate deals all over the place for companies to provide cameras/Studios/pundits ets etc not to mention they would then need everyone to sign up to this channel when Sky and BT have a massive customer base in place already...............

Doesn't make sense in the slightest............

Cant be done unless they are outside the EU................
