I see Chris Rushwork is running some junior coaching courses over the winter, they start this week for 10 weeks sessions last for one hour each week, total cost is £175.00

looked at this for the new under 11s at Houghton but sadly the cost was just too much for our club and the families.

Excellent opportunity for those clubs and families that can afford it mind

Much as I admire Chris I can't agree with this. It's not so long ago that even capped cricketers were only paid for the cricket season and had to seek other work in the winter. Now they're salaried we'll for the whole year mainly due to ECB grants to counties from Sky money. Players should be sent into clubs and schools to do coaching in the winter months free to the pupils as part of their year long County contract.

Is this a group thing or one to one ?
£17.50 ph is good for one to one or maybe even up to 3 in a group . If its large group it's very very dear

I heard that it was a group session up to a max of 10 (I think) for one hour with a choice of three diff time slots on the night (say 6-7, 7-8 or 8-9) for the 10 week course at a choice of 2 diff venues, I think one of the venues was Ch-Le-st and the other maybe Darlington way?

£17.50 for an hour in a group of up to 10 is absolutely horrific!!

You are better off finding a decent local club to train with for about 2 quid a session. Many will even have coaches of a similar ilk.

£175 per hour is not bad pay for a bit of coaching like

Frankly, I wish him luck. Who knows how long his career will go on for and I hope he can make a go of it.

just occured to me that i've probably got the wrong end of the stick, if it is £175 in total and a group of 10 then it is only£17.50 for getting 10 one hour lessons which is decent value, i had reacted as if it was £175 per person, which i think most people in this thread have...

If its £17.50 for 10 one hour lessons that's fantastic value . Too cheap to be right to be fair .
Any road good luck to chris whatever he's up to , nice lad and would have a good raporte with kids no doubt .

It cost me £40 per hour for the bairn to have a session with Mel Betts at the Newcastle Cricket Centre, to place this into perspective. If you have the money and the bairn is talented enough to benefit then its the way to go. TBH loads of kids scrat about for someone to coach them either individually or as a small group like this and the Newcastle Cricket Centre run similar courses for similar prices, but this is the first designated course for bairns this side of the water.

A welcome development that I'll watch with interest. Best of luck to the lad. I'm sure this will only grow as more people find out about it.

Arnie Sidebottom was charging £32 at Yorkshire 15 years ago for an hour's 1-1
