Paid £10 for Pie and Chips, was lursh though. Open return on the train meant I was back in Durham by 9:45

- 0655 train from Newcastle, good mixture of Durham, Heed and SAFC fans
- £1.40 for bus from KX to Lords, no bag checks, in to Compton Upper at 11:15 to see they're 28/1. First trip to Lords and massively impressed by how perfect it looks. Aussies can shove their new ugly supergrounds up their arse!
- Catch from McCleod (I think) looked immense in real time, hope SKY footage gave it justice. Shut the (impressive) Warks lot and their yooooooBears up for a bit!
- Tension in Patel's last over was epic. Dots in one day games can't have been cheered as much ever, still don't know what Stokes was playing at with that reverse sweep like but what a hero!
- Saw loads of people I knew in the crowd. Group of 30 Sacriston lads behind us got the noise going second innings, well done lads.
- Saw a team I follow win a final for probably the only time in my life, GERRIN. Us R&Ws even enjoyed the Blaydon Races after. Buzzing for a bunch of local lads winning it!
- Wandered passed loads of glum Brummies to Baker St for celebratory pints.
- 8pm train from Kings Cross. Stella, celebrations and threats of violence and beatings from radge Geordie lasses on Coach E.
- £130 all in, mint day

Great day mate nice to see you

I was up at 4am, my lad up at 4.15am and got picked up at 4.30am. Got to Durham station around 4.45am and there were a load of our fans at the station. Bumped into one or two I knew from going down to The Riverside.

We were in first class, only because the other tickets had gone before we got to them and we got into Kings X around 8.05am. Crossed the road and got the 205 bus from over the road from St Pancras. Took us direct to Marylebone Station where we got off. In the station the Warwickshire fans were arriving, hadnt crossed my mind that it was the station they would be arriving into (50 minute journey supposedly for them) and one or two remarked to me that there were a canny few Durham fans on their train.

Walked the 15 minutes or so up to Lords stopping off to get some beer and stuff for the bairn. Got into the ground not long after the gates had opened. Bumed into Gordonmuchallsnumber1fan off here and was looking for NorthCountryBoy but didnt spot him. Started on the cans and made our way up to the seats. Got up top and everyone was sat shoulder to shoulder but noticed that over to our right there was a block of completely empty seats that obviously hadnt been sold. Made our way to sit in them and slowly but surely others cottoned on and by the end of the afternoon everyone was spread out. Lower Compton looked pretty chocker with Durham fans.

Spotted the Sacriston and Washington lads over towards the media centre. Became very vocal as the game neared its end. I think their coca cola had been spiked with alcohol if I'm honest. Warwickshire fans very loud. My lad said they sounded more like football fans than cricket fans and there were a number of them in WBA, Villa, Birmingham City etc. t-shirts/tops.

We bowled well. Chopra played well but got himself out to a crap shot, and he knew it. Bowled round his legs. Was satisfied with getting them for 165.

At the interval we walked around the ground and bumped into Joe Rushworth (Chris's dad) by the Warner Stand. He didnt have the dog with him (in joke for anyone who knows Joe!). Me and the lad went into the WG Grace Gardon for a minure or two before the tannoy said that they would be back out in 5 minutes.

Bumped into Neil Killeen and the Annfield Plain CC lads and Killer reckoned we would do it but only just. He was right. Just as we made our way round a massive roar went up as Mustard's wicket fell. Got into our seats again and the second wicket fell.

The next passage of play was TBH all about Patel. Was shitting meself until his 10th over was done, by which time it became apparent that if Stokes was there at the end we would win. Breese finished it off in style.

Came out the ground and walked back down towards Marylebone Station. Loads of Warwickshire fans standing outside the bars near the station.

Got the bus back down to the Euston Road and got off and went into The Rocket Pub near Euston Station as the bairn wanted to watch the Liverpool game. Table next to us was full of Chinese lads, looked like bloody Triads! Two pints of cider and then a walk down to get the bairn a MacDonald's over the road from Kings X.

Into the station and in no time the announcer said platform 1 for the 9pm back to Durham. Canny few Durham lads and lasses on the train back. Bairn was knackered.

Great day out. will be long remembered. Lords, for those who havent been, is a must for any cricket fan. Fabulous, world class place to watch cricket.

Look at me, in 1st class. Pathetic;)

Back today after watching match with my wife in the Grandstand Upper, excellent view, excellent day, result was never in doubt

Bloke fell over seats into row in front ( too much drink ) don't know how he didn't injure himself, then about half an hour later while waiting for the lads to come round with the trophy he did it again, this time clearing two rows, he must be made of rubber.
All in all a canny weekend, got talking to two exiles in the ground one whose family originates from Quarrington Hill and the other had family from Ludworth, both villages on my doorstep, two canny lads they were.

Got down to Kings X at 4.30 on Friday but didn't make it to the hotel until 6.30 after a fanny on with buses, oyster cards not being in credit and generally shite advice from passers by we were asking directions from.
Got into my seat in the front row of the Compton upper on the Saturday just before play started, after the steward misdirected us, and I enjoyed the entertaining/nerve wracking cricket. Even if I was sat a bit too near Warwickshire supporters during their innings.
I attempted to go to Camden after the match, which took about an hour and a half, again after being given shite directions from people on buses, but once there had a very enjoyable night.
Came back today on Grand Central from Kings X, as we got there a bit early, we though we'd go for a pint, but couldn't actually manage to find a pub and ended up drinking in some bloody mexican restaurant, after being told in the bar that they didn't have beer on draft.
I was very impressed with London, and especially Lords, some great building and cracking pubs.

All in all a very confusing and misguided weekend. Either the cockneys don't know where anything is in London or they thought it was great craic trying to get me lost.

Proud to be from the North East!

Did you notice those 3 mouthy Warwickshire fans in the front row? Absolute wankers they were. Mind you the view was superb in the Grandstand Upper.

Such a proud day yesterday

Got to London on the Friday evening after 6 hours on the Rattler, got absolutely smashed in the Novotel Paddington. Woke up a tad late Saturday, apparently there was a massive thunderstorm in the night I missed, although it may have been my snoring making most of the noise.

Got into the ground just in time to see Colly get Trott out, loads of beer, cider and wine, picnic on the Nursery ground at lunch, bumped into Boycott, bought a £20 (twenty pounds) radio to listen to TMS, had a beer with an old pal, wished I had taken my flag ( see avatar) as for the game, I thought the dark clouds all day really added to the drama of it all....to sum it all up in a word Breeeeeeeeeesssssssssseeeeey.

Had a fair few slurps in the bars a around Paddington basin, until I was just basically pouring lager over my face, and decided to retire with a Pizza Hut, up about 7 mins before check out time today and a train back to Cornwall.

Memories that will last a lifetime.

Mint photo that. I often wonder on the Telly what qualifies as bad light but yesterday must have been close like! As you say it added to the drama of it though, dead eerie.

4 of us went down on Friday in the car. We were staying in Harrow so just went out there as it was fairly late when we arrived. Wouldn't recommend it ha.

Tube into the ground and ended getting to our seats in the first over after speaking to Graeme Onions who was waiting for the lift to the media centre.

Was in the Compton lower and bumped into a fair few people I know from local cricket in there and also at the interval, the pre-mentioned Washy and Segga lads included.

Not gonna mention the cricket, but the banter in the stands was pretty good, one of my mates was well lubed pretty early so ended up being a source of entertainment for quite a few around us.

After the game and celebrations, we stayed in the lords tavern for most of the night. Few ex Durham players and some current coaches were in there and a few of the Warwickshire team too. Spoke to Will Porterfield for a while who was a top bloke. Eventually got chucked out near closing time when the pre-mentioned mate fell asleep in the smoking area

Had a few more elsewhere but couldn't begin to remember where. Fair to say the drive back up today was pretty brutal.

Cracking weekend and good to see a team whom I support win a final in London.
That's a total of three wins in 41 years and only one footy win.
Enjoyed Lords I too bumped into Rushy's dad at the start and at the break.
I had a brilliant view in the very back row of the upper compton ,although when that wind came on it became as cold as the Don Robson stand in early April.
Got as far as the top of the steps of the pavilion entrance but didn't have a horrendously coloured tie so the "old boy" minder wouldn't let me in ,although to be fair he was polite.
It was a cracking place like and I did think that the ale would have been more expensive, but it wasn't.
For me though hot drinks were the order of the day in the ground because it did get cool and chilly and getting up the spiral staircase was a chore.
Wasn't impressed with "Warks oafish support" , Hardly any clapped when Rocky got his fifty and for cricket fans they were far too biased and some would be more suited to footy's one eyed nature rather than cricket.
I'm pleased our team of local lads put it right up their boorish bear backsides.
Just got back tonight and had a very enjoyable weekend.

No doubt without the floodlights a reserve day would have been needed, amazed it didint piss down either, I guess it was just meant to be for Durham and Breesey :D

I live in London. But been one of my best days that, so proud at the end seeing the team win, local lads galore. Lords is a brilliant venue. Was pretty gone by close of play, stayed out till 3am or so, can't remember much, but my mates said I was chanting "breesy!" For most of the night
