Washington Running Club

Would you join a Washington Running Club?

As part of setting up our first race at Penshaw with Trail Outlaws and running recce's in the area etc it became clear that there are quite a few runners in the Washington area that would like access to a club. Just taking this as a quick straw poll would any runners that live in the Washington area like to see Washington have it's own running club.
 


I'm actually looking to join a running club at the minute. Haven't run for about a year because of injury etc but now have a degree of fitness back I want to get back into it and I think a running club is the motivation I need, especially through winter! I work in Washington too, so I'll follow this thread with interest!
 
I'd like to see Washington have it's own running club, not sure if I'd join up as I run when I want with a pal of mine but would be good to see and I'd be interested in running any events they might come up with.

Put me down mate, have always been a loner when running, got a mate who runs for Sunderland Harriers but way too good for me and always a faff on trying to get to Sunderland. Sounds like a really good idea.

Right folks, this idea has moved on lots since it was first mooted. There have been meets this week on Thursday evening at 7pm and this morning at 9am. The facebook group has 200 likes in the first week its been open with a lot of people expressing an interest. 8 attended on Thursday and 5 this morning which is pretty much standard for any new club.......If Washington is going to have its own club then people turning out on those evenings will be essential. Tim Bateson will be taking Thursdays groups, we are both likely to be there Saturdays and all abilities will be catered for. The great thing is everybody is new so there is no cliques and you will not be stuck in a place where everyone knows everyone. Get in at the start guys and lets turn this thing into something we can all be proud of.

Just search Washington Running Club on facebook for further info and will try to keep upto date on here.....The current meeting place is the road outside the front of St Roberts Of Newminster school and we use Princess Annes park for runs which is a little known but cracking little area to run. Somebody might even think about putting a race on there lol ;)
