lads was the song they belted out the blaydon races, but with the words changed for the durham aces?

Five trophies in seven years.

We'll inevitably look back at this sometime as a golden era
I hope not. The whole club seems well set up and we are finally tapping that NE cricket talent base.

The rest of cricket seems to respect -even like - us. Heady days definitely, long may they continue

Up and about now after a good nights sleep (bairn still in bed flaked out!) but having watched sport live since the age of 5 (I'm now 53) yesterday has to go down as one of the best days in my sporting life. Something a bit special about seeing the County you were born and bred in going to the equivalent of football's FA Cup final @ Wembley and winning. Of course its cricket and its at the home of cricket and to win such an absorbing match made it all the better.

Great that so many supporters made the trip down. Brought a lump to my throat at the end thinking of how proud both the team and the supporters were that for the vast majority of them this was literally their team - home grown lads.

For as long as Patel was around the game was in the balance. He bowled superbly well and I honestly cant remember one rank bad delivery in the 60 legitimate ones he bowled. Every time he fired one in my heart was in my mouth - any everyone else's I think.

the newspapers are telling us all this morning that there are 8 home grown lads, born and bred in the county who represented us yesterday which is a phenominal effort in this gloablised world of overseason players coming and going and its surely a huge testament to the masses of work done by the Durham Cricket Board to identify talented kids from an early age and bring them through to win professional trophies in a very tough sport. SAFC could learn a lot from their approach I'm sure.

I thought it was a great team effort and although Stokes got MOTM the way in which the whole team scrapped was just great.

My 13 year old son has now seen them win - live - 2 county championships and a trophy at Lord's. Lucky lad.

A wonderful occasion that shall be remembered for a very long time.

that'll compensate for the inevitable failure his football team will reap upon him

couldn't make it yesterday due to a long standing prior engagement but managed to catch the last hour and a half, nail biting stuff when Patel was bowling and heart stopping when Stokes tried that sweep, what the hell was he thinking ? The cheer when Patel bowled his last ball was weird, sheer relief.

Was it as dark as it looked on the telly? winning the toss didn't make it the Breese everyone thought the way it stayed murky all day
