It's a lot better than last season, but still you lot moan.

do you expect a couple of new signings to suddenly take that shit squad into a mid table team? we're also not a club with endless amounts of money to lash about, and we're never going to attract top top players.

Think some of you need a reality check, you's have unrealistic expectations.

Tin hat on!

You spelt 'fat' wrong...and there's no 'maybe' about it.

Teams like Stoke pushed on into comfortable mid table with very little net spend. It can be done.

We just neglected key areas that needed strengthening. It was always going to be a very hard season. We will be left with no centre backs next summer as it stands so could have to rebuild nearly a full defence. That will be interesting.

We need to pick up wins soon as draws do nothing for you.

To an extent he is right.
It speaks volumes about him that he seems to paint it as a negative and intimates it's not a situation he would like to be in again, it seems he is happy to sit in the lower reaches of the league.

It's atrocious football.

There are an absolute maximum of 12 clubs in the English system as big or bigger than SAFC. Two of which arent even in the PL atm. Its not unrealistic to expect to be comfortably in the PLs mid table considering our advantages over the other 80ish clubs in the country. Its incompetence by all at SAFC if we're not.

What's being unrealistic about not wanting to be in a relegation battle season upon season.
It's five games in, there are signs of improvement, players still not fully fit. I believe some are unrealistic at this point. See where we are at a couple of months in. Too early to start worrying yet.

Realistically, where do you think we should finish this year?

I think a slightly more comfortable relegation battle still this year.

I've been saying this since I joined this little sewing circle! North East fans are passionate but unfortunately that passion quickly turns to frustration and anger when things start going wrong.
Newcastle are worse than us mind but when it comes to delusion we are a competitive second! Not that anybody wants to hear this mind so be prepared for some rather curt responses.
Fact is that the two managers who've had the most bile and anger aimed at them in the last 15 years are the two managers who've given us our best top flight finishes in 50 year!
Poyet was a hero with talk of statues in March! Come April quite a few on here wanted him out! Then of course come May he was a hero again!
The North East is a hotbed of delusion in afraid!

I'd be happy with where we finished last season,

I think that people need to recognise there are really fine lines between being in mid table and in a relegation battle, you rightly point to stoke but they were very much in a relegation battle for much of last season.
We are probably going to finish between 12-17th and there may only be 3/4 points between those positions.

Also Stoke have one of the most expensively assembled squads around.

What advantages do we have?

Something is up when stoke, Swansea,Southampton etc can jump into the premier league then out perform us so quickly.

Every commentator and pundit acknowledges our past and always says something about us being an old big club or a sleeping giant, it's odd that we seem so far away from where we should be.

Seeing some of the attendance figures yesterday compounds the fact

Two home games coming up, if we don't get 4 points, then maybes start to worry a little.

Where do you think we should be and what do you base that on?

Stoke dipped into the relegation zone in February and could easily be in the mix this year. The margins are fine and its too early to be predicting failure. Disagree about draws too. When we start drawing at home against the teams around us the argument will have more weight.
