We went there last month and it was shut. So we tried the Westherspoons, but as it was approaching 2100 they would serve me mate's bairn. So we made do with a take away.

I'll miss that co op. Always had a good range of real ales.

Long live Crook.
 
Crook. Co op closes. Nov 26. Lidl take it over in Dec.
Main problem is it wiil be another. 6 months after that before it reopens again.
Would prefer an Aldi myself. There is an outside chance of one when the old library gets knocked down but doubt it myself.

They're shutting down the only supermarket for six months? :lol:

I also heard this but slightly differnently...

The Co-Op's long standing 'agreement' with the council that no other supermarket will be allowed in Crook for 25 years is now up and the Co-Op are to run away in the huff.
Lidl are buying the Prince Bishop garage site to build a store on it.
Aldi are taking over the Co-Op
Morrisons are flattening Crook Town FC's ground and building a store on it.
Crook town are going next to the new fire station. (built by Morrisons as pat of the deal).

I heard this a year ago and nowt has happened yet! Probably never will.

Hard to believe it will take 6 months to reorganise it unless they intend extending it.

I'll be back at university by the time Lidl get their hands on the Co-Op. ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco, Aldi, Waitrose and Iceland. The choice is mine, peasants ;)

I often drive through Crook on my way to much nicer places. Will I still be safe doing so ?
