Only place I heard of was Northern Ireland and even there it couldn't be seen by the naked eye but a faint glow picked up on the camera sensor.

Caithness as usual. Also seen some class pics from a bloke who climbed a mountain outside Aberdeen to get above the fog.

It was a big anti climax tbh but that's Aurora for you
I've considered dragging myself out of bed a number of times for it now, but think i'll wait until I'm in Scandi or Iceland tbh

Lucky sod, tis on my bucket list but don't think Mrs K will be interested. Far too cold for her

You still did better than anyone else in the NE I reckon

Pretty much this.

Paws, did you go down with Sunderland Astro SOC? I know they were at Marsden.

Its a lot less chew on. I have wasted gallons of petrol chasing the aurora in the UK and only seen one really good display. Most clear nights in Iceland you will see something.

I've still never seen it properly. I think I'd like the first time to be a decent display rather than a bit of obscure green mist

We went in late August. Weather is like September in the UK and dark enough to see the aurora, albeit nights were fairly short at the start of the holiday.

My aurora pics:

You want the moon on a stick you.

Ironically, for all the shit displays I have chased, the best one I have seen is the one I watched with my Mrs outside our motorhome in Iceland. So she has seen the aurora once and it was a cracker.
