i might not be making strollers this week, family issues, but no one stopping you mate. it's free to try
no worries, I'm definitely going to join but night have to start next week. I've got an interview which won't finish in Newcastle until 6pm / get back to seaburn for 6.30pm

i joined sunderland strollers 2 years ago, in that time i've completed 3 marathons and a 50 mile race around the lake district. people can do anything if they set there mind to it.

Totally. Including the upcoming Kielder marathon I'll have done 4 full
Marathons, 6 GNRs and 2 ultras including a 100 miler in the past few years. Funny thing is I don't really see don't myself as someone who's really that fit but I guess being able to do 20 mile runs without too much of a problem I am haha

i've never tapered for anything before. i've got a bit of a bug at the minute, affecting my kielder prep big style.

I think it helps cutting back a bit prior to a big race. I'll only do it for marathons and ultras tho. Are you doing the marathon?

anyone looking to do their first ultra might want to give the round ripon ultra a go. it's 35 miles and not crazy hilly. it'll be my first one and if it works out the next step will be one of the hardmoors races which is defo a step up.
bad news it's 4th oct, same day as stoke home game.

Recovery run last night was bloody hard for some reason pace to heart rate was 40 seconds off normal pace so might be coming down with something. 10 mile sublt planned for tonight will see how it goes though.
 
Off to the Strollers tonight for the first time, looking forward to it. Only ever ran with other people during a race so it'll be a nice change to have some company

anybody ever have an ice bath after a run ? do you think these actually work or just loada bollocks
 
Just an update about the Saturday morning jog/run on the River Wear paths starting from Penshaw monument (13 miles ish) on Saturday it is now starting at 08:00 rather than 07:30

Dunno about ice baths but I'm a big fan of compression for recovery. I also use fruit flow capsules, take them before a big run and it reduces inflammation and aches afterwards.
