Credit cards

I don't spend money I haven't got, I wouldn't even if I had a credit card. I would literally just be using it for the credit score malarkey. I applied for one with Halifax a year or two ago and they rejected me. Haven't really thought about it since.
If you don't spend money you haven't got, you may have difficulties buying a house or other large purchases such as cars.

About 18 months ago I took out a co op credit card with a 2k limit. Turns out a month later the girlfriend was pregnant and because her maternity pay was shite I ended up relying on the card far too much. I'm pretty much maxed out now and only managing to pay of the minimum amount until I can afford to pay more off when she goes back to work in November.
I don't mind having it as its a pretty small amount and manageable but what really pisses me off is the bank try nearly every week to up my limit. It's like they want me to get into a financial mess.

Banks are reet arseholes man. All of my creditors have stopped charging interest and never contact me, they just accept whatever repayment I give them. Bastard Lloyds have simply "reduced" the interest to exactly the same as what I'm paying them, so the total's never going down. They also pester me every five minutes, even though it's a condition of the DMP that they only contact me through a third party.

Grrrr, those pesky banks.

Is it weird that I'm 27 and have never taken out a credit card? Should I get one to start building up a credit score?
Wouldn't recommend them to anybody, its like free money and the minimum payments are fuck all so you could end up paying it for years. Paying by direct debit helps your rating and if you need to buy something on credit get in on a fixed term ie a loan

I've got about 8 credit cards and could get near £100k of debt if I maxxed them out. I'll just wait til the doc tells me its a matter of weeks! (hopefully never)

It is also the easiest way to an interest free loan you can get if you are clever with the way you use them.

Credit cards companies prey on the weak, the young and the daft.

the step son. who is only 21, maxed out his card and was being sent to collection so i agreed to pay if off and he could pay me back without interest every month for four months. Of course the silly twit then uses the same card, with a balance now of zero, to take out cash to pay me off for the first month..plus spending another $200 on a new jacket..I called the credit card company and they said i couldnt cancel the thing, only he could..he is now worse off than before and within a month will be maxed out again.

He is daft but they are gangsters
