Great news you're coming.
The format is a 4 team 20/20 tournament starting on the Friday night. Two sides from Nowton CC, us and a side from Birmingham, The Elephant Wanderers. There are then 2 games on Sat and Sun, with the show-piece game being us vs the Elephants on Monday.
The clubhouse is about 2 miles outside BSE, you can google Nowton CC. They do bacon sarnies for the campers and put on a great spread of food during the rest of the day. You can shower there in the morning. We tend to spend most of the time drinking in the clubhouse when we are not playing. Cabs back to BSE for Chinese or curries tend to go about 2230. Though on Sunday night a few of us nip back to town a little early for a game of darts before a chinese. The lads match has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works this weekend, but we'll find a pub to watch it in.
We don't get as rowdy as we did in the video, as that was 20 years ago. Generally we are all milling around chewing the fat and catching up with everyone. We all used to play together 3o+ times a season in the 80s and 90s, but we've all got older, fatter, less hairy and many have moved away from London, so it is a great reunion. New members are always welcomed in a traditional way, you've seen Deliverance right?
Don't expect much high grade cricket, but as the beer will be provided by the Southwark Brewing Company, it should be top notch. The Elephants are mad and might entertain you at night with their drunken antics. One of their lads turned up late for a game once so they stripped him naked and tied him to a door for 2 hours smearing him with food every 15 minutes. It seemed a sensible punishment after necking snakebite.
You'll have a great time, just don't be late.
