Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Aye, our boy's been playing it for a few days, he's about L13 Gladiator and is pissfarting about mining at the minute. Seems good, I'm quite enjoying it. Servers are f***ing shite though.

Beta tested it, got to level 20 odd or something, bunny rabbit looking fellow with a bow. Ran poorly on my laptop, (which was better than the recommended spec) so was a little bit put off with the jerky combat/movement. You have to pay for it now don't you? Love FF series but never felt immersed in the game at any point. Probs won't bother again.

Been a big server upgrade last night so I'll have a look tonight. The jerky combat/movement would have been the ropey servers.

The server fixes at least mean you can log in now - it's a pretty decent game now (I played the original version of it a bit - through alpha and beta and some of the retail release where it bombed - they've done a drastic makeover on it to get it to where it now is).

Still having trouble with disconnections and major lag like. Although that might be a lot to do with the wifi signal.

It's the best Final Fantasy since FFX but its best content is locked behind co-op play. So if you're just wanting an RPG to blast through, I wouldn't advise it.
Never played any final fantasy ever! Thanks for advice though, think I will avoid for now

It's £20 on steam, was tempted but just don't have the time for this type of thing.
Suspect I will be the same. Childcare gets in way of lot of my potential gaming time at present. Just bought last of us and wolfenstein so spare time at premium already!

Is there a link?

Can't remember all the restrictions but it's a fairly heavily locked down free trial - I know it's level 20 limited, can't send tells unless they're sent to you first... things like that.

Haven't played the PS4 version but heard a lot of people say it's very good on it and I'll vouch the controls with a gamepad are pretty well-worked out since I play on PC with a PS3 controller. It does still suffer a little from a lack of end-game content and grinding but as storylines go in an MMO it's got a pretty decent one getting through to at least one level 50 job (there's about enough quest content and storyline content in the game with exp rewards to get you your first level 50).
