some canny shouts but it will likely be the team that played here, with the likes of stokes, finn, hales, taylor in the squad. i wonder if bresnan will comeback or even trott.

prior may return for a last hurrah they are keen on kerrigan so he might be there

Yes, Borthwick. If he gets away from Durham, he'll prove just how good a spinner he will be.

Like most Leg-Spinners, he bowls a worldie every now and then but sends down 4 overs of shit in-between. He may be effective on day 5, but the main job for a spinner IMO is to build pressure and keep things tight throughout the match. He simply does neither of these.

Im not a fan of leg-spin in general to be honest, its by far the most difficult thing to do in cricket and if your good at it, your world-class. If you anything other than world-class, your easy pickings as a bad ball is always around the corner. I do not believe Scott Borthwick is world class at the minute and would get picked off at around 5 an over in test cricket.

Dont agree with Robson. I'd have Carberry at 2. Theres not much wrong with the rest, although not convinced about Finn.

What about the fact that the leader of the attack and probably the best bowler England has ever had, has been left out.

Nah, he's not a coward like Swann/Trott/Prior. Still got a good 5/6 years left in him.

How the fuck are Trott and Prior cowards?..... ffs, some people on here are ridiculous

I wouldn't wish what Trott has had on my worst enemy, and Prior was the opposite of a coward, he played on far too long when he was injured as he was so desperate to play, eventually doing the right thing and giving his place up to Buttler.

It is absolutely mental that you want to keep swapping Root and Ballance around, it makes no sense at all

Root has proved that he can't bat at the top of the order at international level currently, he even admits it himself and wants to bat at 5, so you swap him for Ballance, who is the most suited young cricketer at number 3 I have ever seen.

I like the look of that, with Plunkett, Robson, James Taylor also in the squad. Will be a few who will improve and be involved though.

Also think if Trott ever recovered fully and was up to it, he could open, but I think that is unlikely. England were at their best when Cook and Trott scored big at the top of the order, everything else became so much easier, Hopefully that can be now Cook and Ballance.

Think the only major difference to the current side would be Lyth or Trott for Robson (with Root/Ballance moving to opener to accommodate Trott).

Outside shout of Jason Roy being in the squad? Maybe too early.

Averaging over 50 in the county championship this summer, and in incredible form in the one day forms of the game. If we are aiming to play more attacking cricket, he wouldn't be a bad shout?
