Kent vs Durham

Another hugely disappointing loss, we're simply not scoring enough runs. Once again we were on the back foot right from the beginning of our innings. A 50-60 run opening partnership in the power play overs would set the innings up for the middle order to push on and get big totals, but instead we've been put on the back foot right from the beginning. Rocky's job as captain would become a lot easier if he was back to scoring big runs at the top of the innings, but unfortunately I can't see that happening soon, he looks a walking wicket right from the off.
Jon Lewis should never have been appointed as Head Coach. We all know how and why he was given the job but it should have been Benkenstein's. Not only that but never in a million years is Rocky a captain. There is no one on that score currently at the club who fits the bill but unfortunately we dont have the money to recruit an overseas captain.

I'm afraid that for now and until the money situation changes we are where we are.

Mistakes have been made, some of them from before the season even started, but nothing will change until the end of this season now. I can only see things getting worse for Rocky from now on.

Going to really struggle when Colly packs it in.

Can't we give the Scottish lad a go in the championship?

Benks offered to stay on and was told he wasn't needed, pretty much the Colly and Lewis show and they didn't want Benks part of it which was a real shame.

The wheels are well and truly off. Need something to change soon or this could turn into a disastorous season.

Spot on, it sounds like they have made 2 decent totals, but 300 at Taunton was never going to be enough even when they lost 3 quick wickets. Looking at the side yesterday if you take Rushworth out you could have reversed the batting line up and it would have been just as effective that is how many all rounders Durham have. The biggest problem is key players are not performing. This form of the game should be made for Stoneman but quite simply he is out of form. I thought this would be a massive season for Mustard taking the opportunity to bat at no5 in the championship and continue to be Durhams best one day bat but he is is having a quiet time of it and they rely on him so much over the years. The other problem is our spin bowling which is massive in the one day game, Breese is still our best one day slow bowler, Borthwick does not appear up to the job unless defending a massive total where batsmen have to be wreckless against him. Not sure why Pringle has not been given a chance, i thought he looked okay last season in the t/20.

He's had a few chances and in my opinion hasn't looked very good
To be honest i can't really comment have not seen much of the lad, i remember Benks talking him up at the start of last season as being made for one day cricket. But as far as one day cricket goes the spin options are a big concern, i don't think a team can win enough one day matches to be successfull in July and August without at least one key spinner but probably two.

the Durham decision making, at the highest level, over the last 3 or so years has been disastrous. The budgeting and budgetary control looks to have been non existent and we all know who was supposed to have his finger on the pulse with that - but clearly doesnt look like he did.

The captaincy issue has hung around like a bad smell for ages now and started with the smith debacle when he was deposed of it seemingly on the bus coming back from Trent Bridge following out first CC defeat in a season and a half. after that we have had reluctant captains and inappropriate captains.

Max Morley looks extremely promising and SLA can be very effective in 1 day cricket. It was Pringle' s batting that Benks was praising.Must say The lad himself would say he's a batsman who can bowl.

Blame Mr Harker for the financial mess.

As for not allowing Benks to help out, it was a crazy decision made by Lewis and Collingwood

Hampshire - currently top 3 in division 2 and into the quarter finals of the T20.

We knew Benks well and he was gutted to leave and was very keen to help out at the club as he knew his playing days were coming to an end. Durham declined so he left, I don't even think the club acknowledged his departure

MDV wasnt treated much better when he left. His career at Durham ended poorly and abruptly as well. Seems to me that the club panicked and like SAFC did when we went down in the 19 point season there was effectively a fire sale of as many players as they could - all handled very badly. The way Blackwell ended his time here was pathetic. He was treated very badly.

MDV retired 2 weeks before the club announced it which was a bit strange. He hardly got much of a mention by the club, likewise players such as Thorp and Smith. Blackwell was a nice bloke as well.

If they swapped Rocky with Rushy would the batting be any worse off?
