Can't believe I haven't seen these before. Started watching both on Netflix recently and they're both great comedies.

Arrested Development strikes me as being quite British in it's sense of humour. Far wittier than most American shows I've seen. I get the feeling that the story will progress and become even better?

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia doesn't seem quite as witty but it provides more belly laughs. Loved the first episode with the black guy. A bit more generic in terms of American comedy but seems thoroughly enjoyable so far.

Can anyone recommend any similar gems I may have missed out on?

It's Always Sunny really picks up in series 2. Arrested Development series 4 is poor but the first three are very good.

The last couple of series of Community have been poor. Some of the episodes in the first couple of series are pretty much perfection though.
Glad you mentioned that as I was going to pick it up from Series 3 again after a bit of a break and was wondering why it had stopped getting a mention anymore.

I disagree. It can be bit and miss at times, but it has some of the funniest moments of the entire show IMO ("Daddy needs to get his rocks off!" in particular had me in stitches)

Still worth a watch imo.

Parks & Recreation, Bored to Death both spring to mind.
Missed this post, Parks and Rec after the first series is class like, although you do need to watch the first series, only 6 episodes

Going to give Bored to Death and The Middle a watch.

Oh and how could I forget Entourage

Nice one on Entourage. I think I've been through the complete series 3 times now.

Being old-fashioned, I usually buy these on DVD and pass them on to the kids. They basically give away the first series of Parks and Rec with the second series.

It still has its moments but it never gets back to the heights of the last two thirds of series one where every episode seemed to be a gem.

Agree, the last series being the worst. Any program where Chevy Chase is off his nut on disco biscuits is worth a watch. Some of the stupid paintball episodes had me in creases.

The first paintball episode is fantastic.

Party Down is also worth a watch. Google seems to suggest it's not on Netflix though.

Party Down is another good call.

Always Sunny... went a bit off the boil around season 6, but 9 was as good as any. Great show.

The first 2 seasons Arrested Development are probably my favourite of any comedy. 3 was patchy and 4 fuckawful.

Thought it was a bit lame. Same goes for Parks and Rec - cannot understand the hype for either, bother really broad and obvious.
