Not for me. Too many daft movements I couldn't see the point of. Too cliquey. Jack of all trades, master of none

I can see the benefits of it like, definitely a more athletic alternative too bodybuilding but I just can't see how gyms throw people straight into it without teaching them the lifts with proper form especially when they're prone to be tired towards the end of their session. Big risks I would imagine.

Where I went did show correct form tbf but as you say, you want that extra rep on the board so form goes, on deads or an oly lift it can be dodgy. Things like handstand push ups.....why not just push press a barbell, I'm 17.5 clem, I'd never be able to do one! Was also told it doesn't matter how much you eat as long as it's healthy stuff, paleo nonsense.

As I say, not for me. Saying that I've put a fair bit of weight on lately simply by not doing anything. I need to hit the weights or do some HIIT on the rowing machine that's currently surrounded by crap in the garage. Wanna get a bass of fitness back and head back to Muay Thai

Did you end up selling all your weights before?

Paleo and Crossfit go hand it hand.

Do any of you take weeks off? I've done 6 weeks straight now of heavy lifting and I'm wrecked. Last 2 sessions were crap and I didn't bother with last nights. Decided I'm having a week off weight training and I'll repeat last weeks sessions again next week to get back into it if that makes sense.. Anyone done this before?

I take a deload once every 5-6 weeks. I don't take a full week off, but on a deload I'll usually compress 4 days of training in to two and slash both volume and intensity. Today I did:

Bench - 3x5
Squats - 3/4x5 + 1x1 easy paused squat with a belt

Then various plyometric and acceleration drills

yeah i have, you know your body and you have to improvise no matter how well you plan a routine, there's been times I've felt exhausted and pushed through to new pr's but there comes a point when you're not adapting and you're just risking injury, being miserable and probably reducing your strength in the process.

enjoy a week off stick with your diet as best you can and restart with a loosener work out before heading straight back into a routine.

Cheers for that. I read somewhere ages ago (on bb.com I think!!) to do 12 weeks before taking time off. No way I could of done another 6 weeks.

Going to have a week off then try and aim for fat loss and keeping lifts where they are now if possible.

Blanket statements like that are rarely applicable mate. Depends on training status, type of routine, drug use or not etc. Plus, even then, a specific number of weeks should go out the window if you physically feel like you need one.

I don't really like full weeks off. For powerlifters who compete in equipment this is probably more useful due to the insane battering their bodies take.

Ive been doing it a while now and ive tried all sorts of phys from weightlifting to triathlons and i can certainly say it is beneficial across a broad range of stuff. but as ross says , jack of all trades master of none! but that suits me as at 36 i wont be a world beater in anything. As for the form , thats purely down to the individual, ive seen powerlifters rounding out their backs in deadlifts and sted heads swinging 60kg barbell curls like they were having a fit!

Might get back into a full body traditional weight training after f***ing crossfit off a while back. Keep passing jp fitness at spenny. Looks like a no nonsense lifting gym

all i've ever done is 1 body part a day,5 bodyparts so 5 days.or put tris in with chest and bi's in with back making 4 days, therefore 7 days rest between workouts, give it a try

I suppose when you put it like that it seems fine and is how many I do

Just wanted to say "Ain't nobody got time for that!" Really.

unless you're young or visiting doctor needle it takes longer to recover between bodyparts, don't believe all the shite you read in the 'joe weider mags' they're there to get you to buy his supplements.books etc.
