Somerset vs Durham

Stoneman is the one I'm worried about.

Bowlers have started well though

Stoneman has averaged over 40 in the championship and the 40 over game for the last two seasons. Got over 1000 runs in the championship last year and will this year. Mickey Mouse pyjama cricket aside why would anyone be worried about Stoneman?

Or alternatively take your hats off to two players putting on a great partnership that changed the game, fantastic knock from hildreth and very impressive quick fire century from gregory when the game looked dead and buried.

roll on tuesday, hope we smash kent, the kernts.

I agree - get on a roll batting at Taunton and its difficult to stop.

Will you be going on Tuesday? Looks like a few of us not in Portugal are going to come down from London ....... hopefully we can do better against second division oppo?

aye, i'll be there. sadly the sort of ex missus will be there so wont be smashing it on the booze, otherwise would have been canny to meet you up and get hammered!

I dare say we'll be getting hammered - if the CAMRA Beer Tent is going that's where you'll find us . If not, probably head for the Members bar .... I'll probably be wearing either a red or purple Durham top ........

well no doubt i'll have a chat with anyone wearing durham gear. probably be too hot to wear my dccc hoody but ill throw on my cap if i can wear that without getting a sweat on. cannit stomach anything from shep but if they have any decent cider on i'll be drinking that. wont be allowd in the members bit. will be off the leash for the first 3-4 hours or so i think so i'll keep an eye out for you. i'll be wearing a pink carnation ;)

Haha! We're in Kent I suspect there'll be a canny few sporting pink carnations

I went to the Rose and Crown back end of Waterloo on Tuesday and tried Shep and Neames Goldings Ale which was canny. I don't usually get on with their other brews though can neck a few Masterbrew's when called to. Anyway, should catch up with you Tuesday.

it is weird like, i suspect most places here just can't keep ale because most people i know in kent f***ing hate the stuff but around the country it seems to have a great rep. they have strangled out so many decent pubs by buying up and ruining proper ale houses, so alot of it is pure resentment, all their pubs serve nowt but shep stuff so you struggle to find anything decent. perhaps as a result of that most places that are independants [and keep beer well] don't stock it. should hae tried some at teh beer festival last week really but couldn't bring myself to.

Trust me there are some brilliant ales out there and landlords who know how to look after them. Just a case of finding which ones best suit your palette. That's why beer festivals can be so good - they usually allow a taster, or sell them in third of a pints to help you decide which you prefer. Then again, there's some cracking ciders about anarl ....

Cheers

Because his T20 and one day form has been absolutely awful. Don't think he even got into double figures in the T20 did he?? He even had to demote himself from opening such was his awful form.

4 day cricket wise I'm not worried at all. Truth be told I'm not that arsed about the pyjama stuff but then there's folk who will do and rightly so I guess because it's still professional cricket and it's still a trophy we've yet to win and which some would like to see us win.

There's also TV money in T20 which makes it all more worthwhile for the club to be successful in this form of the game ......

unfortunate timing really, the main kent beer festival which is held less than a mile from the cricket ground was 2 weeks back and whitstable just had a beer festival the weekend just gone [thats why i haven't been able to face leaving the hosue today, just a big hungover watching test match day.

so close and yet so far!

Stoneman did make double figures actually, his scores in T20 were - 2, 12, 16, 6, 2, 17, 27*, 11, 0, 0, 9 (at 5), 2* (at 8), 13 (at 4). Definitely a worry.

Average of 10.64

So you aren't worried about the pyjama stuff yet its the basis of your argument. Hes got a one day average of 40 and has just had his most successful season last year in it. 4 day cricket you aren't worried at all.

I ask you again what's your problem with the lad? ;)

im fairly sure all of us would like to see us win, given the choice!

He certainly was today but as Brandon has already mentioned he was averaging 11 before today with a HS of 39.It does appear already that new fielding restrictions are too much in favour of the batsman.

He is averaging 30 with the bat in the championship and 24 with ball he is very good cricketer and is only going to improve.

For a number 9 that is good average and his bowling in the championship has been very good,37 wickets in 7 matches

At 22 year old obviously an outstanding prospect and,to be fair, Colly was very complimentary about him after the game.

I personally am not too arsed about the pyjama cricket - others will be though.

Considering you asked the question as to "why anyone would be worried about Stoneman."

I've merely answered your question of why people would be worried about him.
