Christ almighty, why does there always have to be two divisions?

Should just make this a straight knockout competition.

Actually it's 2 groups with the top 4 from each going into the KO stage. Knockout comp would be crap anarl.
Well aye, figured there would be some sort of knockout stage, still feels like overkill having two divisions of nine.

they have done the right thing this year making it 50 overs, as we need players playing it before the world cup, but it is just too long IMO for domestic cricket, 40 overs was better

Personally feel it'd be better if it went back to two Divisions - with promotion and relegation.

However the ECB want their Lords final. Which IMO replaces the final they no longer have through getting rid of the Benson and Hedges style cup there used to be.

I wonder how they coped with two one day comps and the t20 just a few years back...

Schedules were even worse back then..

I remember Scotland v Durham on the Sat then Kent v Scotland on the Sunday!!

They didn't need to be though. County cricket in recent years has always been full of stupid fixtures meaning ridiculous travelling AND large periods of inactivity. There's ample time in the season to play all the necessary games - it's just that the fixture secretary(ies) is(are) a clown.

One thing I always felt worked - and probably would again IMO - were the 5 day fixtures. 4 days of a CC game with the one day game either the day before or day after the CC game. No reason why that can't be brought back. Seems like sense to me anyway.

It did make perfect sense.

Last season Glamorgan finished a 4 day game in Cardiff at 6pm and had to be in Yorkshire for the next morning, ridiculous scheduling.

Anybody heard any squad news, be interesting to see the side they play especially the batting line up, 10 years ago 250/260 was a good score to set. Be interesting to see what scores sides are setting this season.

Something similar this year, Durham played down Yorkshire Monday-Thursday, then they played each other on the Friday up here. Why not just play them down there whilst both sides are already down there

I'd much rather have a 40 over a side cup personally with 3 groups of 6 teams playing 10 games. Group stage: April to June, Quarters and Semis in July and the Lords final played on the last Saturday in August.
