Did 4 mile yesterday morning. Like running through treacle. Thought I was going to get mugged so had to sprint up the hill under the bridge. Guess it did me good.
Drove to my brother's in Bedfordshire straight after work. Brought my running gear to try somewhere new but the wine I had last night might put a stop to that.

Hot this morning doing parkrunning.

Disappointed that my times are getting worse, going to have to change my training I think. Didn't enjoy it today...

Out for the first time in 2 weeks last night after a bout of food poisoning. 4 miles, It was a killer. The Gnr is only 6 weeks away so it's going to take a gargantuan effort just to get somewhere near fit.

It's still do-able mate. 6 weeks ago I hadn't been for a run for over a year but I've managed to run every other day & increase my distance by around half a mile each time. I'm finding the fitter I get the more I feel I've got left in the tank at the end of each run even though I've increased the distance & I could probably be increasing by a mile a time now.

Did my 1st ever Parkrun this morning. Bit disappointed with the time but at least I've got a target to beat. I'm a bit torn between trying to increase my distances or drop the distances to try & improve my speed over 5k.

Snap! Decided to go for distance as I've clearly lost my lightening turn of pace I had when I was 18.

I'm going for an endurance athlete now...

Was today the last Sland park run on the original route ?? What will happen with the new route will all the times be wiped and start afresh ?

Meant to walk up n watch it but last night got a bit messy

Completed the Lakeland 50 in 12:46:31. Had a terrible first 20 miles but recovered and had a class 30 miles finish. Ended up doing a sprint finish with a sub 7 minute mile.

fantastic stuff.
what shoes did you run in?
what was your longest training run?
is it mostly runnable?

Bought a heart rate monitor from Lidl the other day. Seem to have got it working, any idea on what I should be aiming for in terms of average heart rate on an average run? For me tat would be about 6k in hopefully 32/33 minutes?

New balance leadvilles. Class trainer. I reccied the whole course bar the first 11 miles, they were about 16-20 miles long a day. I done a 30 mile challenge/race June. There was alot of climbing, I think about 10500ft which I walked, but I'm good at walking hills, the terrain is rough, but I managed to run pretty much all the flats and down hills.

Good going that like. My mate did the 100 in 39 hours 45 minutes so only made the cut off by 15 minutes. I do like ultra running but I don't really think I'd want to run for 2 nights like.

That's class, I'm not sure I could do that like. The 100 runners said when running through the night, seeing the sun rise gives you a lift. Enter the 50, its class.

I think that the weather being decent will have helped definitely. I'm thinking of maybe doing Thames Path 100 next years again.

Yeah next week it starts up the hill near the skatepark. They were showing maps of the new course on Saturday, they never mentioned anything about wiping PB's, they didnt do that at Durham when they changed the route there so doubt would happen.

It was pretty hot Saturday morning, dont think there will have been many PB's.

the course should be faster for most runners, I think anyway, as will have more energy for most of the route having not done a bank at the beginning, mind you for anybody just starting out the final bank will be tough going

The heat was wiping people out like. I sat down before I got to a checkpoint, I needed shade, I was drinking out of streams, dipping my cap in to try and cool down.

What's the Thames course like?

Anyone rwead about that Steve Way (hard not to lately) but he ran 62 mile in 6h 19mins, is that right ?? Unreal if so mind. 6m miles for 62 !! jeesas...

Aye I heard it was warm like. Thames path is really flat, goes from Richmond to Oxford. When I did it last time the route got changed the day before due to parts of the path being flooded so I'd like to do it again and do the proper course and aim for sub 24 hours.

was there many of the strollers who did it mate ? must have been really tough going in that heat on saturday

Anybody entering this 10k? http://runmiddlesbrough.com/index.aspx?articleid=4539

Having caught the running bug recently, I'm contemplating entering an event before the year ends but I'm also a little apprehensive. If you've seen my posts you'll know that 10 weeks ago I couldn't run to the end of the street but now I'm capable of a sub-24 minute 5K. My running now is concentrating on bettering that time and I'm doing intervals on a Monday, a slow, long run on a Wednesday then a straight 5K on a Friday. My longest ever run is 5.2 miles last Wednesday, which I did in 46.10. I should have just done the extra mile to make it 10K but I was just making the route up as I went and ended up back home after 5.2 miles. I know I could have done that extra mile at the same pace, which would have given me a 10K time of around 55 mins. If I entered this race and added a mile a week to my Wednesday run, I should, hopefully, have a 1o miler under my belt. As it stands, I know I could, but have never completed 10K.

So, would anybody like to offer me any advice or encouragement? Would you enter it if you were a novice like me? The course looks pretty flat and is popular for PB, so I'm thinking this can be the benchmark by which all my future runs are set because I plan to enter quite a few events next year.
