you need to get the marshals to chuck coloured powder at the runners like a proper race Phil !! :) Nearly 6000 people paid 25 quid each to run around the stadium of light and a poxy industrial estate....... un-f***ing-believable !!

Im sure the new project will do well mate - once i get fit im planning on giving a few a try.... st Cuthberts...... maybe :)

Ha ha, that is madness.....Way I see it is that anything that gets people running is a good thing.....This year paint run, next year Penshaw Trail Race

St Cuthberts is gonna be a cracker, stunning course.....If injured at the moment fella you could marshal the Penshaw race and get a free place for St Cuthberts. Drop us a PM if you are interested marra ;)

there weren't many people running that I could see !! Ive already told you id try and marshal if I can ........ :)

Wadn't

The Kielder night marathon sounds interesting am looking into spring marathon currently thinking Blackpool/Manchester or the Sunderland one it goes ahead this year but that could be a contender as well.
don't do blackpool - its pretty crap and windy. Manchester is the better bet especially if you are trying to run a time

Reports from last years Blackpool seems like it was better different route etc to previous years, think my main aim for a time race will be next Autumn but that's getting bit far ahead of things training wise, need to get through this first York one first.

Ya reckon this could be decent warm up for GNR the week after?

Do all my long runs on both sides of the river and up to penshaw/ offerton. It's pretty tough just at easy run pace so gonna be a killer racing round all the bridle paths and footpaths.

Depends how hard you're pushing. A jog round it then, but 2 half marathon pushing hard might knacker you up.

If you are doing the GNR and want to race this then I would do the 10k as a speed/hill session. It is a really tough 10k course but would set you up nicely for a really easy taper week and leave you fresh and ready for the GNR with just a couple of really short easy jogs during the week to keep your legs loose.......Personally I always run long and would probably have an easy potter round the 13.1 course and they just a couple of really short easy jogs mid week to keep your legs ticking over.

See there's some neon race carry-on takin place in Herra park in October n'arl. Many people take part in these things?

Think its about 25 quid with a bit party afterwards?

A quick note from Tim Bateson to say thanks to the 3 SMB lads who recced the Pieces of 8 half marathon route this morning. Hope you guys enjoyed the route, even if it is about 5 miles longer than one of you thought lol...Obviously the riverside section near the wildfowl will be totally clear by race day (my summer job lol). Personally I wouldnt clear it cause I am a sadist and love running in the jungle but I know its not to everyones liking:lol:

Sorry I couldnt turn out but running the 140 miles of C2C Ultra this weekend and got crazy taper madness making me paranoid about getting injured. Looking forward to seeing you race day

Phill

Signed up for the 10k. I'm shit at running so could come first/last depending on how many are running

Also doing the Derwentwater 15k the week after. Hopefully this will be a decent warm up for it!
