Fantastic win for the Academy, especially to put 174 on the board against South North in the final who are probably the best club side in the region. It is a surprise that they are 3rd bottom of the Premier league, don't know why have not seen them play this season, but looking at their side they are made up of quite a few players who won the county championship u17s title last season. So there must be some talent there.

I think Harry Lime gets to watch them play.

excellent stuff. hopefully the conveyor belt to the first team continues

The lads have played some decent cricket this season, apart from the Hetton Lyons game but that was a one off, without getting the wins on the board. I wasn't at the finals day on Sunday and I think a couple of the lads that played are not regular Saturday Academy members and play their Saturday cricket in the NYSD, but they do play in midweek academy games.

Very much an academy side turning out for the 2nd today in 50 over format v Yorkies and got absolutely hammered-180 odd runs. Need to have a few experienced heads in with these youngsters if they're to develop properly. Just proving how foolish this ott staff pruning was last year.

It's hoped that the proposed nursery ground at the Riverside will be up and running in the next couple of years, which will then become the Academy home ground. In the meantime all "home" games are played at the oppositions ground, the host clubs can charge the Academy £150 for using the ground, but some clubs charge it and some don't.

Apparently a one off as well, South North paid him £600 for the day.
He was paid £500 for the day ie the amount that South North got for getting to the televised finals day. It was a no brainer for SN. Top of the NEPL, they knew that even if the Academy won they wouldnt progress which meant that they were a virtual shoe in, barring a cricketing debacle.

Any idea who is paying for it?

I get the impression the club are hoping the council will provide the land and the funding for the development will be raised outside the club through an initative called "First Class Futures". Which basically means the club are hoping someone other than themselves pays for it.

It's a commendable project so let's hope it succeeds. If they get the land for free the development shouldn't be too costly. Wouldn't require much seating and the pavilion should only need to be basically a changing room. Be interesting to know what Littletown' s overall expenditure has been.
