Andrew Strauss, mild mannered and South African. That was an issue against KP for somebody else. As well as Swann apparently. I wonder if Swann said "get that South African cunt out of the team" in front of Strauss.
Strauss moved to this country at the age of 6, he was educated here and grew up here. Pietersen moved here at the age of 20 after he spat his dummy out about the quota system (he blamed it for his lack of appearances).

not sure why you wonder if Swann made the remark to Strauss? (He didn't - it was in front of some journos at a charity dinner)

Strauss also educated in Australia. Both he and Pietersen had an English parent which makes them both equally qualified to play for England, whenever they came.

The thing I still don't understand is what qualifies Morgan to have such a platform for his cricketing opinion within the mainstream media.

Why does anybody (or in fact DOES anybody) actually value his expert analysis.

Yet the one who lived here as a boy and was essentially "English" went on to be one of the most successful captains, whereas the one who came here in his 20s because he couldn't get a game anywhere else became the English game's biggest pariah

KP was just desperate to be accepted somewhere, makes me cringe seeing that three lions tattoo, means nothing.

Well, on wiki it says of Strauss "Born in South Africa, Strauss moved to England at the age of six.[13] First playing cricket in Australia for Caulfield Grammar School, an independent school in the South East coastal city of Melbourne,[14] Strauss came back to England and was educated at two independent schools in Southern England:"

so not sure what years he grew up here. And scored a lot less runs at a lower average than Pietersen too, not that that makes him a bad player. Is he "essentially English" because he lost the accent?

Pariah is your personal interpretation. I would still have him in the team, and the players should have realised that somebody who can help them win matches should be too.

If this was 4 or 5 years ago I would agree, but he is well past it in my opinion, or getting there anyway. So it is not worth the hassle for say another years play out of him, when he isn't at its best.

I think the whole England saga could of been prevented, we had a fantastic team, and maybe people now appreciate how good it was.

We had just won the Ashes 3-0, the ECB got greedy, instead of saying, we will just play you in 3 or 4 years time because of the world cup, they took the money and went for back to back, it was far too much for the players, who were already feeling the strain, to deal with.

I honestly think if we had not played that series we would be perfectly fine. Trott would of had a long break, and may not have suffered his problems, I think KP would of stayed, Swann IMO would not of retired, Prior would of had the break he badly needed.

Now that's just my opinion, people may think it is not as black and white as that, but I think it is, we played far too much cricket, high pressure cricket, and it just exploded. If we hadn't had that series we could of planned for the exit of our older players, making sure we didn't lose them all at once. It's a shame for those players to go out like this, because they were a brilliant cricket team

Agree with all of this except Swann - his elbow was fucked and couldn't even bowl in the nets without being in pain.

I wish I could unfollow him and Pietersen on Twitter. I hate them and they wind me up a treat but they're like a car crash I can't help looking at.

I bet he's pleased he got out of the newspaper game before all the hacking shite started.
Another talentless nobody who opens his gob and lets the wind blow his tongue around. :)

Knowing that Morgan will look at the number of people who follow him as some kind of badge of honour has meant i will never add to his numbers. If i saw him in the street i'd tell him he was a cunt like.

They say you can judge a man by the company he keeps...

Piers and KP being mates tells you all you need to know about both of them

Yep exactly, think that's all that needs saying really.

I am not convinced by this, I think with a good break, missing a few ODI tours, he would of played this summer, and would of excelled on these pitches.

I am convinced if you picked Swann on Sunday, he'd bowl well.

Well, this has come from a number of sources including Swann himself. I think he saw that the ashes had gone and saw no reason to out himself through it for 2 more tests.....still think he could withdrawn through injury and retired after the tour like

He bowl fine in the summer though didn't he, and wouldn't of played another test for a while.

He said on TMS that he was sent home immediately by the tour management as he would have got in the way.

Your personal interpretation
My personal opinion. Who has ever said and where has it been reported that he is a "pariah". Surrey certainly seem to want him. As far as I can tell he has not been sacked by any team he has played for but decided to move on. In fact Notts forced him to play the last year of his contract with them. England even took him back. So, pariah - social outcast? Don't think so. Except maybe in South Africa.

Anyway, at professional level why should any player expect to be in a team where he thinks he has to be friendly with every single team mate? That's going to be difficult with any eleven you could pick anyway. This isn't a f***ing sunday school team, it's supposed to be the best that England can select, and if anybody thinks they can't put in their best performance just because they don't like somebody else on the team they have no business being there.
