Started running again a few weeks ago - ran four or five 4-5km - now got ITBS.

Did 1 min walking, 1 min running last wednesday at about 6pm. I couldn't walk by 9 because of the pain in the side of my knee.

A running clubs just been started in South Hetton, where they're basically doing a modified couch to 5k to get people started - so I'm hoping to use that as rehab and to keep running, just shorter amounts to try to get over it along with some stretching and strength work.
Still got your cheap trainers? I suggest you get your gait analysed and a foam roller

Aye still got them (only done 40-50km at the most in them so they're not worn) - just made a couple of videos on the treadmill so I can have a look and see what i'm doing.

Already got a foam roller ;)

might not be worn, but they may not be the right shoes for you.

Aye been trying to research different shoes - everything says i'd need motion control shoes (for overpronation - which I'm assuming I do since I've got flat feet) - but I run with a forefoot strike so not sure it really matters that much.

I'll have a look at my videos later and check for sure if I overpronate or not.

Had nee bother in these shoes last year - when I ran the same amount, and for the first few runs this year too.

Apparently your gait can change. If you're free, go to start fitness, they can give you loads of advice, or sweatshop in metro centre

Sent a video off to runningwarehouse.com they reckon I'm neutral rather than an overpronator. Recommended some neutral/cushioning shoes. So think I'll have a look for some of them.

is there a new balance sbop at dalton park?

Our team came third in the crook relays last night. . beaten by the strollers and the Quakers (who won).

One of the strollers lads won quickest leg prize. Will post results when they're up. Was fast as . . .

Steve Rankin. Said he had a crap run

Slowing building my distance. Got through 9 miles last night before my leg went pushing for 10, fitness wise it felt brilliant and the best run of the year even in the heat.

Stopped and rested today, back out tomorrow. Hoping for a fast 10k along the seafront before the airshow on Friday.

What time are you hoping for?
I can comfortably do a 10k in under 50 mins

Half marathon distance today - two laps round the park. Finished in 1:32:30. Was trying to run as even 7:05 pace start to finish as possible. I'd really like to be able to get to a 3:05 marathon so decided to try that pace and see how I felt to 'half distance'. Was pretty comfortable except for the dodgy knee bothering me on the way round. Could probably have got to 20 miles at that pace, so another 6 to go :) Desperately hoping the knee gets better or else I'll be on the sidelines for a little while. Should be back out tomorrow for another at the same distance/pace but think I might have to miss it. Will decide in the morning.

Out for the first time in 2 weeks last night after a bout of food poisoning. 4 miles, It was a killer. The Gnr is only 6 weeks away so it's going to take a gargantuan effort just to get somewhere near fit.
