Was it davenport who had to retire 'cause his brother in law stabbed him in the legs a few times?

I appreciate that, so does Poyet and the club no doubt but they seem, till now, hell bent on sticking to FFP and not over paying, sadly the club need to wake up and realise EVERY other club is still over paying and still spending. Perhaps the drastic comments come from accepting less for the shite we have and paying more in wages to the players we want, rather than getting more Plan Z Celustka's in.
Short was one of the main guys to push for FFP, I doubt he's going to change his stance now.

Nowhere near panicking yet but I must admit I'll not be impressed if we do end up tying everything up on deadline day.

One of the big advantages of this preseason was supposed to be Poyet being able to work solidly for a number of weeks purely on getting the players 100% with his system. If we don't get them in until two or three games into the season again, we're not far off the same situation as last year.

Christ, I was trying to think of shite loan signings and I completely forgot about most of these. Weren't we 3-1 up v Man City and then we needed to bring Kyrgiakos on, another class O'Neill signing!

Once again we run into the issues of. DofF and a manager working together. Poyet is clearly frustrated that Congerton hasn't been able to secure the identified targets.

If the man responsible for recruitment doesn't bring in the players you ask for is it fair that you will be judged by your performance with players you didn't want?

Sadly it is in congertons interest to keep Short happy rather than to give Poyet the squad he wants.
You were telling me everything was fine the other day and that we were just taking our time, what's made you change your mind?

He looks clueless TBH. And what has he done at Hamburg? What was his role? When he was there they signed Mancienne and they were nearly relegated in the end. I don't get this faith in him just because he was at Hamburg.
The same Hamburg currently facing financial turmoil and who were nearly relegated for the first time ever in their history.

He did a great job there.

I've said that all evening, but the fact remains we either need to accept we aren't going to get what we want for our players we want to sell and we won't get the quality if we don't start paying for it!

Stuck between a rock and a hard place I think

If you continue to ignore someone's achievements and talk utter shite I am going to continue to point it our.

If you don't like name calling go and set up an account on the cbeebies forum.
Would that be Scocco's or Poyet's achievements you refer to? Certainly the former has done remarkably well for his time here. Six months wages and goodness knows what in expenses, agent's fees, accommodation, transport via air fares and so on.

And as far as Poyet is concerned I like him and rate him. But I am not obsessed by him neither do I overlook the obvious flaws in him as others seem keen to do. I feel it's fair to raise issues with which others agree to bring a sense of balance to the discussion. If you disagree then we'll just have to agree that we see things differently on this issue.

I commend the club for their considered and methodical approach and I would urge any supporters who haven't already purchased a season ticket to follow suit and wait until the last day of the transfer window before deciding whether to attend any games this season

He did very well at Hamburg... Maybe that's why some have a few concerns instead of just blind faith that everything will be alreet?
He was piss poor at Hamburg like.

God knows where Short gets these football experts like......cunts-r-us by the look of it

When Poyet feels the need to put pressure in someone who is supposed to be helping him assemble the squad he wants I think its obvious things aren't going to plan. Not saying it won't all pan out ok but there needs to be some sign of a breakthrough soon.

We've struggled for years to attract anyone up here, hence why we end up paying ludicrous wages to average players, it's the only way we can get anyone.

This.

Abroad (and most places outside the North East) we are seen as no bigger than the likes of Stoke.

The Mags have a strong reputation in France hence why they keep signing French players.

Unless we pay silly money this will be the norm.
