He's an attacking player.

They were playing a third division US side who have only been playing since April, for most of the game sat back with 8 and 9 players around their own box and booted the opposition. It was like a MON team on steroids.
What was the final score you beacon of knowledge?

I took a look at the West Brom forums as I was surprised at their decision to sell Thorne (along with many poor decisions from the over the last year or so) and I was expecting to see full on meltdown, as it happens they all seem quite positive about the upcoming season which surprised me. The only thing they seemed to be dwelling on was losing Billy Jones which is promising.

@CraigGards8
"Good run out tonight got more minutes in the legs. Shame about the ref spoiled the game really never mind. Roll on Friday #boingboing"

Allowed me to regularly mutter 'he must have a foot like a traction engine', I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Here we go, fuck me bad MAG attitude.

Mate he might do well for you but he was pretty poor for his spell here apart from goal scoring record. He was a terrible central midfielder, almost as bad as David Vaughan. Did ok at right back like but only a fill in player there as his tackling and positional sense is a bit naff

Am I right in saying the majority of your fans seem quite optimistic for the coming season mate. Or did I misread there being an air of positivity on your boards?

A bit more optimistic with the recent signings. As I've said in previous posts, anyone who thinks Gardener will be a regular starter knows nothing about us.

My "mag" comment was in reply to the poster who described us as being "beyond shite", the type of know nothing bollocks I expect more off your deluded neighbours, than your usual level-headed Mackem.

Your squad's still pretty threadbare isn't it? Similar to us you're going to need a few fillers yet.

What did you think of the decision to let George Thorne go? It seemed a crazy decision to me at such a low fee. Maybe I'm overestimating him on seeing him only a few times but he looked good enough to be around a Premiership squad to me and like he has plenty of potential. Is there more to it than neutrals know about?

I only saw him a few times for Derby but he looked like a decent prospect, thought he was highly thought of by West Brom fans as well so it seems very strange to me as well.

Especially when they have signed Gardner who plays in the same position and will be on much higher wages, would have thought they'd have kept Thorne in the squad and just not signed Gardner at all

I would imagine Gardner's signing on fee and the excess of his wages over Thorne's over a year or so won't be much shy of the fee they got.

Mind we have first hand knowledge of how crap Gardner is (although he did try), I don't even see his use as a squad player to be honest. Larsson is miles better and I don't even rate him that highly

Think there must be something we don't know about with this Thorne like, looking from the outside it makes no sense

That's the thing, we've seen it plenty of times with SAFC players and goings on where the perception of other fans is totally different from what we actually know to be the case. That's why I was keen to get Boinger's West Brom perspective of it all.
