The Hull game this weekend is absolutely huge..

Yep, just need to somehow do something we have failed to do all season... Win games at home against bottom half opposition, its a hell of a leap to change that trend. Fingers crossed.

Hull will beat Fulham
West Brom v West Ham , likely to be a draw . Baggies couldn't hold onto 3-0 lead v Spurs

Our results in the last two games is a perfect illustration that you can take nothing for granted. Who says Norwich won't beat a Man Utd side under the guidance of a complete novice, or get an unexpected result against Chelsea who may be out of contention in the premier league.
Fulham could win their last three or get the jitters and lose the lot.
Cardiff are perfectly capable of winning at Newcastle (they've already won there in the FA Cup) and our home form won't make them too apprehensive about Sunday.
The best thing about this nerve shredder of a season is that it will all be over in just 17 days time and our destiny will be known.

Just checked the fixtures there for everyone around us and this weekends game between Hull and Fulham is massive, If Hull were to avoid defeat we would surely have enough to get to safety...

West Brom have :- West Ham (H), Arsenal (A), Sunderland (A), Stoke (H)

Norwich have :- Man United (A), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (H)

Cardiff have :- Sunderland (A), Newcastle (A), Chelsea (H)

Fulham have :- Hull (H), Stoke (A), Palace (H)

Sunderland have :- Cardiff (H), Man United (A), West Brom (H), Swansea (H)

I expect West Brom to pick up another one or two points from the remaining home games to ensure they are safe, hopefully in time to play us so we can beat them. They can pretty much write Arsenal off away from home but if they grab a win against West Ham that'll do them I would think.

From looking at that, Although there will be twists and turns, Logically it looks like Norwich are gone. They are to face a new Man United side on Saturday before going to Chelsea who I very much doubt will lose two on the bounce at home and then host Arsenal who will need to win to ensure a Champions League place.

Cardiff have to play us and its do or die for both clubs, If they lose that they'll have to go for it at the Mags which could go one of two ways considering they haven't won a home game in ages and need a win before the seasons out. I would imagine the quality of Chelsea on the final day would be too much for Cardiff. If we beat them we would go two points ahead with a game in hand with them facing a trip to Chelsea and the Mags away, 3 points maximum there for Cardiff which would only leave us needing a point with a superior goal difference.

Fulham are the ones with the best run in and will run us to the wire, I think they could quite easily pick up 7 points from the last 3 so we NEED Hull to get a result on Saturday. If Hull managed to get a draw on Saturday it would put Fulham on 31. Thats 2 ahead of us and we would have two games in hand on them which is Cardiff and West Brom, both at home.

All the games this weekend are huge but if Hull avoid defeat and we then beat Cardiff, We would go 1 ahead with 3 to play. Fulham would be 1 behind with 2 to play. All that in mind, We are in the best position for this run in and we also have a better goal difference than Fulham so if it comes down to it that would give us an extra point.

Fulham 'two' behind with two to play against Stoke away and Palace at home against ours of United away, West Brom at home and Swansea at home, I would expect us to be able to better Fulhams run in with a 2 point advantage to stay up.

Haway the lads.
Given Hull's approaching FA Cup final, I really can't see them easing up as they will want and need to get back to winning ways after last weeks result. Even if Bruce doesn't play his best team, on the basis of keeping one or two select players for the final, there is still an opportunity for a player to book himself a cup final place in the team or on the bench and the players will be competing for this goal.

dont know if Long is injured but him and Jelavic are cup tied anyway so if fit will both probably play

Think hull need 1 point to stop up.

Can't see them getting it from their last 3 games so their next 2 are vital.

Fulham need all 3 points vs them and I think Villa do too so 1 of those teams could definitely be caught.

Hull are already safe. 36 points with a decent goal difference will be the maximum needed and it could end up being less.
Hull are safe.

Hull could be dragged right into it this weekend.

Wrong. They already have enough points and their goal difference seals it.
Three bottom teams will not overtake Hull.

u reckon hull are safe mate

Absolutely. They could lose all four games and they'd still stay up.
I think a few teams may get to 36 but not with Hull's goal difference. Forget about them going down, they're out of it.

Rather than sitting looking at all the possible results for other teams i prefer to think 'If we win our games whatever the rest do means fuck all'

It doesn't mean fuck all if we don't win all games. though - we have to beat Fulham's points total to get above them, so how many points they get makes a difference to how many we need to stay up,

We could get 36 points and be above Cardiff and Norwich. If Fulham are on 36, we are happy. If they're on 37, we're down.

If Fulham beat Hull and Cardiff beat us, Hull would look at the position and start to panic. Norwich and us might be goners, but they would be right in it, with 2 away games at Aston Villa and Manchester United, then a last game at home to Everton.

I agree, it's unlikely they will go down, but just those 2 results at the weekend would put them right in it.

Goal difference will save them regardless.
I had a look at it last night for the first time. 36 points and a good goal difference is safety.
It's very feasible a team or two could go down with 36 points but not Hull.
Every team down there would need 37 points to send Hull down. It can't happen in some cases and it isn't gonna happen in others.
Even that assumes Hull lose all four.

Probably. I think 36 will keep us up but they won't wana go into last game with an outside chance at relegation if they take the foot off the gas as they've got the cup final and will probably be looking at making changes (other than the 2 strikers that are cup tied)

Villa are in more danger than Hull. I don't understand why their name hasn't cropped up more in the relegation banter.

100% agree. Probably one of the worst teams we've played this season. They're poor at home and don't have goals in their team with benteke injured. Also the backroom stuff.

It's ashame they got that point last week as they would have been under alot of pressure.

Their fixtures are

Swansea A
Hull H
City A
Spurs A

Think a point will keep them up because of GD.

I'll be lumping on Fulham this weekend on the basis that they're fucked if they don't win. Hull will be playing like pussies with a Cup Final on the horizon and who can blame them.

Dinnar, I recon they need 2 points to be safe given their GD.

Ok they aren't. Fuck me.

The biggest factor in this is us. We are unpredictable performance wise yet seem to be predictable losers against the bottom sides - this is an SAFC trait and happened year after year after year with the odd exception along the way of course, but a trend that blights us.

It's a manifestation of where the club sees itself in the world... bigger support and expectation than a normal club in our position and part of waht the problem is that the last few managers have talked about.

I cant remember many 'must win' league games we have won for years. It'll need to see a massive buck in our trend to get through this one.

Although talking of typical Sunderland, it would be just us to surprise us and do it!
