Roy Keane - Decent read

Great player and was great for us when he came. He made some mistakes and poor signings but there isn't a manager who hasn't. Along with Quinny, he lifted the club when we needed it most. For that, i'll be forever grateful.

As for him on ITV, he says what everyone else thinks. ITV would be even more woeful without him, being stuck with Chiles, Dixon, Townsend etc...

Love him but he can be a right bitter twat. When asked about SAF's autobiography and SAF saying he "covered every blade of grass", Keane just said "That's not praise. That's like praising a postman for delivering the post"

Massive Roy Keane fan me. One of my favourite people in football.

To the point, honest and direct. Too many people in the game (and in life) are fannies, don't say what they really think, bottle opportunities and put a front on not to be themselves.

With him, like him or not, he is honest and pulls no punches and I respect that.

Also that season we won the Championship was quality.

I'm a massive fan too. The impact he had on our club was incalculable. Forget the playing side, though that was immense, he gave the club back, largely because of his own principles, its pride and self respect when it was at its lowest ebb and no matter what you think of him or how things eventually panned out, for that you should be eternally grateful.

I can't help but really like him. I'm proud he was associated to our club and left us in a better state than when he found us. I'll always have time for him, far more than I have for the likes of O'Neill and Bruce.
Well he wouldn't for you and that is the problem. He was a great player but is a complete dick as a person and that's an understatement. As many have already said - ego, self, hypocrite etc.

A great character and entertainer. Is he a lovely bloke. Probably not. Neither was Best or the likes of Suarez.

But he always seemed to give his best on the pitch. In the end it is simply a sport and Keane was a competitor and entertainer.

Wish we had him playing on Sunday. Even at his age now. He'd make sure the other 10 fuckers around him performed, something that is often forgotten about him. No slackers on his team

Are people forgetting, he didn't give his all to us, only turned up on a Friday and back to Cheshire on a sat /sun that's why he walked like a Spoiled brat when told to move closer to sunderland replied no one tells me what to do! Errr, if Ellis is paying yer wages then he can yer tosser!

Standards? After the shit he bought and for how much?

He had to do it man, ffs have a think eh?

We were a yoyo team and odds on for relegation. Nobody would come here so he had to pay over the odds to even get what he brought in. Doesn't take a genius to see.. Without doing that we would have been relegated before we even kicked a ball with the team we had.

So what were his standards that the club didn't meet?

He talks a lot of shit about courage and bravery and walked....I have more respect for PDC.

Not helped by Quinn making it very clear that we had plenty of money to spend.
