7 mile managed today, again keeping the pace out of it and felt ok, ive had my Achilles scaned fletch in the past and told it curves and is not straight like it should be but they never offered me anything to fix it mind no op our anything

When you have something like that the nhs aren't really bothered that it will stop you running a 4min mile etc. You need to stress on them the importance of what you do (ie running) to your life and convince them that the issue is life limiting etc. (in a similar way to people who get boob jobs / sex changes etc on the nhs) Often its pot luck on the consultant you get. My mrs had an issue with her toe - she ended up asking for a second opinion via nhs as her first consultant refused to really do anything about it. the 2nd one did an operation within 4 weeks and now she's fully running again. If she hadn't asked she'd still be running in pain or not at all. In terms of NHS you don't need to see a doctor either as with most sports injuries they are rubbish - this just adds time. Best bet is call your surgery and ask which physio they use (it will be either city hospital or connect health) Get the number and self refer direct to them. They will get a physio to call you back and do a telephone consultation. This will save you loads of time and get you straight to the point of contact you need. Good luck.

cheers @archiesdad I have a call with the physio next week and I will be going to see them, did a call 3 weeks ago was given stretches etc and told to do for a month then ring back if no improvement on my Achilles, to be honest im running further but still feel it so im going all out with them to get this fixed and your points about lifestyle etc are valid and I will be making that point a lot more than last time.

good news - see how quick it can be with a bit of know-how :) I was going to suggest bursting into floods of tears like a big girl when they call you but it looks like you might have done that just now !! Good luck mate. ps - i hope its connect health rather than city hospitals - they seem better from what ive heard.

Very tough 6 miles down castle eden dene yesterday with incurred some brutal banks. Forgot to put Vaseline on my feet like I normally do afterwards and couldnt half tell the difference all night. Over our lasses and my feet were itchy and dry and fuck

5km - 23:38 yesterday evening

Need to get out today but that wind is off putting to say the least

Luckily I can run castle eden dene when the wind is to bad. Would rather run in the rain than a hard wind. Hopefully it behaves itself for Sunderland HM in a fortnight

Ruins everything, wind. Football the worst example! Love the rain though.

Did 7.3 miles today, down past the AoL where Ki was pulling out with his white Cherokee, along the road behind the academy and right along to the university before back up Fulwell.

Slow pace but keeps me ticking over.

Quiet week, ran to work Monday, 8x800 on the track Tuesday. . .elswick relays tomorrow. . .park run jog with the bairns on Saturday so will have a nice long Easter run on Sunday to top the miles up

10 miles into work this morning a 7:20 pace, nice and comfortable. Felt pretty rubbish for the first 3 miles, but then got into it and was absolutely fine. Trying to replicate marathon pace as comfortably as possible for these runs so I can get the first 10 miles for 'free' when I am doing the full distance.

Couple of long runs over the next 4 days. Need to get more miles in the legs in the next couple of weeks.

Feel like I've got a little lazy recently. Training for my first half marathon and have now done a couple of 12 milers so I am confident I can do the distance. This has made me a little complacent so I've only done one additional 10k run in each of the last 2 weeks. I've also got very lazy doing stretches.
Plan to get the foam roller out today and maybe a short run. 12 miles tomorrow, then 2 or 3 10ks through the week. Week before the half marathon I want to just tick over but working away for some of it which will be a pain.

I can't run again so went round the sunderland park run on bike slowly while the missus tried to run it for the first time, she joined the strollers 3wks back, I just cycled alongside shouting"that ironing won't do itself" , did 29 mins, lovely morning for it . Miss running already !!

Nice steady 4 mile run that incorporated Horden beach on a superb spring evening. Very lucky I have Castle eden dene and Horden beach on my doorstep. Some very picturesque scenery to marvel at on my travels

Just enrolled for the East Coast Half Marathon, Sun JUne 15th. Get on it !! Will have to up my mileage in coming weeks, get back into double figures and get some hills in....I'm also doing some gym this year (Stronglifts 5x5)
Reckon the squats will improve running muscles ?? Any other useful exercises while am there ??

12 miles this morning. Absolutely gorgeous day.
3 minutes quicker than my previous best, with the last 6 miles considerably quicker than the first 6.
This leaves me with a bit of a quandary. My previous target for the Sunderland Half Marathon was to finish with no expectations on time. I am now frustratingly close to being able to get under two hours.
I know on the day I'll be slower due to the number of people out there but I can't help but think I will be disappointed with my time.

10k number cane today.

Starting to feel real,

Done 10k three times now.

59.40
1hr 22 sec
59.01

Just never ran with other people before, if you know what I mean.
