buy me a new Lee polariser and i'll get the shot.
I'm not helping you commit more atrocities on young models ;)

It's interesting, but you are probably right that it's easier to represent rain as a portrait photographer. I probably average 1 decent rainbow shot every 2 years

I don't shoot in heavy rain, or at least very rarely. The one good shot I have from heavy rain, you can't tell it's raining

I haven't picked up my camera in ages, I'm having doubts over my shoddy looking studio space and wondering if its best to sell my lighting and rent a studio as and when I need it.

I am going on a road trip next month through France, German alpine road, popping to Zurich, back through Germany to Belgium so I'm hoping to get a few nice landscapes.

Go to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen if you're near there. It's a dead end like

a bit too far off my route. Doing:

Reims
Lindau
Fussen
Beschtegarden (sp?)
Zurich
Munich
Nurbergring
Ghent
Too many cities for me like ;)

Berchtesgaden will be great . Neuchewanstein Castle is en route from Zurich to Munich btw

lets be honest here, the competition is dying on its arse. Why don't we just have an open comp? Add 1 picture per month from the shots you've taken in that given month with a small explanation behind you're thinking and what you were trying to achieve and vote on your favourite shot.

My theme was to encourage people to read up about different techniques and ask how and why it works.........no one entered or people added joke entries.
Last months theme was "auto" - the polar opposite, accessible to everyone........no one entered.

By having an open comp you're not pushing people to change their usual subjects or how they go about their photography or what they're interested in capturing, you're just creating a small community where people display their pictures and get a little feedback from other members.
I know the competition has lost it's following. I will run Rain for April and Water for May. But that will be it I think.

What you are suggesting is a camera club community where you show your pictures - nothing wrong with that but it isn't a competition.

When AB22 EasyTiger started the competition it was supposedly to help us learn and try new things, to push us and challenge us. I think it worked originally, but now no-one is interested.

But thanks for all the support from those that did support both the competition and me. xx[DOUBLEPOST=1397083130][/DOUBLEPOST]
Your theme was more popular than the following 'easy' one I notice
 If you took your entry away and my admitted (no equipment, no software) fun entry away, there were two entries! If oROSSO had supported the March theme March would have had more entries!
. Do you like my reasoning?:p

Its a shame Peachy.

How come you don't think my suggestion would be a comp? You'd be judging a photo on how well the photographer has achieved what they wanted to capture and also how aesthetically pleasing the shot is, no different to judging the yearly comp based on the 12 monthly winners; they all had different themes.

Well I can understand how frustrating it must be for you to have such poor participation but if you do decide to give it up I'd throw my name in the pot to keep it going. It'd be a shame to lose it and I still think this part of the board offers a bit of peace and quiet for those of us with a similar interest. I'd have to post on talk photography more *shudder*

You should do script writing for Gus poyet ;)

The best thing about the compy is this thread, we have to find something still to do comedy bickering about [DOUBLEPOST=1397121113][/DOUBLEPOST]

Seems fair enough aye. Hell bells would piss up with a whale tail if open this month. It could add extra impetus

I suppose the issue we may find is that smbers generally like certain genres or styles and they might win above better photos from other genres

If there is no theme, nor technical challenge to meet, it comes down to equipment and interest, don't you think. so you could have a professional with top notch equipment and honed skills versus a novice with a £40 P&S, still learning about photography - the second photographer has no chance. By having a theme or technical challenge most may have to step out of their comfort zone. I and others who are just hobbyists have done well (some months) because we have met the theme/challenge, whereas the better photographers per se have struggled (not always - I'm just trying to make a point).

I have seen some photographers on here put in (generally, rather than in a comp) some excellent photos because they know what they are doing, but when it comes to a "competition" they haven't fared so well; the competition itself is a bit of a leveller?

anyway - after May, I might put all 2013s photos up and get us to vote for photo of the year, and maybe then leave it a while - see what happens.

You can run the comp if you want!:)

Biggest problem for me is finding the time to get an entry to fit a theme, working in a factory all week limits the availability of getting a themed shot. I always try to keep it in mind but don't usually get a shot due to other factors. I quite like the idea of just a "Your best photo of the month" style. There are a few different styles of photographers on here that should see a good mix of photos. All we are winning is a pat on the back and a good feeling, its not like its really important! Why not try it and see for a couple of months?

^^^ Same here, but I don't work in a factory. Agree with everything Mad M said.

If only you had some kind of Simon Cowell-esque figure to spice things up a bit and force people to look long and hard at reality of what they've posted/entered.

Forecast to rain on Sunday and Monday!

In Simon Cowell's defence, he knows what he's talking about.

So the last one was rain, and this months is water?
Well as no-one has entered , it doesn't really matter.

Winners had their own choice of theme - I think Rain was quite specific, but Water is really broad and offers lots of scope for different techniques/styles etc.

Let's hope someone enters the final month's competition!! :)
