I don't get why £7m is a bad deal for M'Vila because of his contract situation.

We spent £5m on McNair, was that a better deal because he had a few year left on his deal?

We could have got a £20m+ player for £7m if the rumours are to be believed. The fact he only had a few month left on his contract is just a shit excuse, IMO.

FFS. The state of "journalism," with two mutually exclusive and equally unambiguous reports coming out within minutes of each other. The only way to square them is that he just very recently signed a pre-contract, between when Barnes got his information and then this.

As players contracts all have an end date in the summer (30th June I believe) they can only sign pre contracts from 1st January before the end of their contract. There is no such thing as signing a pre contract for a January move.

TransferMarkt reckon his contract concludes on the 31st of December. Just saying.
