When I lived in Shildon I fancied making frikadeller one day for tea. When I asked about minced veal at the Tesco in Newton Aycliffe the woman looked at me like I was some sort of baby killer. Tried to find it elsewhere but eventually gave up and made them with just pork mince instead of half and half. Never knew it was that difficult finding minced veal in the NE. Hopefully that has changed now.

I've only had them in Germany and thought they were a German thing.

Mind, I spent 4 days in Rome recently trying to find a restaurant that Saltimbocca alla Romana and was 20 times easier to get Persian food.
